Watermelon for sure! You should see whaat it does to blake all summer! Lol

Cuties- what is your schedule like next week? I'm thinking of making a road trip to pick up the roo but need to know how your days are. I only have appts tomorrow and friday this week. Also Vicki said she wanted to make a trip your way too. Besides boys wanted to take a trip to Stevens Point to stop at Golden Corral for a anniversary in remembrance of my aunt who passed last year(She lived there before she moved in with us). I looked at the map and it's not that much further to your place. I love a good road trip, I can take pictures and see new places.

I think Monday and Tuesday are the only days I have plans. Other days after 4:30 will work :) just give me a little heads up.

Hi all-hoping for some advice:

Lately I am seeing a lot of very watery dropping. In the morning most of the droppings are water with a little white. Any ideas what would cause this? Other than moulting, no other signs of illness.
how much is a lot? Do not worry unless it is more than a day.

Packer Suckday All....the selection of plays being called should create a loser, and the D is on other teams....ok...I'm done, so is the Pack!

Welcome back lost ones...we missed you!

X's 3 on the cheap straw...wish I had just 20 bales. That would do me some good.

When you said old fashioned bl4..I thought you were gonna be talking cocktails...LOL!

well after I stopped watching the loser I mean the Packers, Annie and I went out and I climbed up onto the trailer and retrieved 10 of the bo's.. 2 were too high to reach,, but I did get the rooster, so the loose ones will hang around to be caught another day..

why, after trying at least 6 times to run through the center, did the play caller keep calling that play ?? The Pack never could run right up the middle.. and while I am at it.. how come other teams can run a kick off back beyond the 20 yard line and the Pack can never go any farther than the 20 ???? question and answer time is over..

my Lady did not show up to buy the barock hens,, big surprise, eh?
and her phone must have gone out of order, too..

then I cubed 14 quarts of beets for freezing.. and now I am having a spotted cow..

Haha good one! Sorry, but mon through fri is a given. Lately so are most Saturdays. If you guys wanted to wait till the weekend, if I'm posted, 11 will be the latest I should work.

Jim, so goad you were not reporting that you were squished! And that annie is fine ;-) you will sellthe barock eeventually. Hope that spotted cow is good!

We found an awesome guy real close to us. Straw $2, hay $3.50 all winter. We lucked out. Good yellow straw too. We don't use much straw tho. It doesn't absorb as well as the pine chips. It cost a little more. But now that we feed & water outdoors, the barn stays cleaner longer :-D

Quote: Straw does break down really well over the winter. It takes longer and you are right ..chips absorb better. I found a good combination of mixing them. I hated the expense of wood chips after my wood chips were all used.
I will come when she does. I worry about her driving all the way home so late. It is a long long drive.

TO....this is

GF..

This is for you...apple lovers!

Crust Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup light brown sugar
2/3 cup brown rice flour *
1/3 cup tapiona starch *
* if you are not in need of a gluten free recipe, substitute 1 cup all purpose flour for the items marked with an *

Filling Ingredients:
2 tablespoons butter
4 granny smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced thin
3 tablespoons light brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/16 teaspoon nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon kosher salt
1/3 cup water
Optional: 1 tablespoon bourbon

Topping Ingredients:
1/4 cup pecans, chopped small
1 cup old fashioned oats
2/3 cup brown rice flour *
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 cup butter, softened
* if you are not in need of a gluten free recipe, substitute 2/3 cup all purpose flour for the item marked with an *

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Generously grease a 10" square or 11x7 baking pan with butter and set aside. Beat the butter and brown sugar together until light and fluffy. Slowly add the flour and beat again until a soft dough forms. Press the dough into the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Bake for 10 minutes, until the crust is set, but not browned.

While the crust is baking, melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the apples and sprinkle with the spices and the brown sugar. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the water and the bourbon and cook another 5 minutes until the apples and caramelized and the liquid is absorbed. Remove from the heat and set aside to cool for a few minutes.

Combine all of the dry ingredients for the topping in a mixing bowl and stir a few times to combine. Add the butter and beat on low speed just until the mixture forms clumps. Spread the apples over the crust and then cover with the topping. Press down lightly to form an even layer. Bake for 35-40 minutes, until the topping is lightly browned. Cool completely before serving. Slice the cooled bars and serve topped with Bourbon Caramel Sauce (or Vanilla Bean Caramel Sauce) and Vanilla Ice Cream. Enjoy!

Hi All!

Glad to see Zeke and Jim Back!

Well, nothing blew away here (that I noticed) but the yard flooded like a spring flood! Thank goodness the ground wasn't froze hard yet, it all seemed to soak in. I did fall on the way to the coop about 4:30, landed flat on my back and it knocked the wind out of me. I felt fine until about midnight, now it hurts when I move my left arm certain ways and when I breath hard.

Grrrrrr

Hope everyone else is OK after the storm!

Guess that's it.... Night All!
