Does anyone need any egg cartons? I have quite a few and my big girls are being a bunch of slackers right now. All I'm getting are a couple of pullet eggs every day from the Blues. Think I'll have to get a timer for the coop light for the winter. (Last winter it was not a problem.)

I'm so NOT liking the frigid air today!! I'm on my 4th cup of tea this afternoon.

Irish, I think we are all in the same boat. I have 30 females and have been getting 2 or 3 eggs a day. As Cind said, my egg customers are p!$$ed!

I don't know if it is a coinkenky dink or what, but earlier in the week I started adding vit. D to the chickens water, and now I'm getting 4-5 eggs a day. No pullet eggs yet, though, but I'll take it. Most of the ladies look to be (more or less) past their molt, so hopefully the numbers will improve, although with the lack of sun, I'm kinda doubtful.

I have an overabundance of egg cartons too, if anyone needs extras. 12 and 18 count.

Chilly Evening All....the fire sure feels good tonight after a long day in the woods. No deer yet. Sure was a crummy cold day out there.

Yep, plenty of frozen water here today. Suzie is doing the morning chores for me so I can go hunting. She said her hands froze today. I'll bet they will in the morning too.

I'm not getting many eggs right now either. Some buckeye pullets are laying, but that's about it. Enough to get by here, but nothing to share. I'll give the older hens a rest and skip the light and timer for them.

Have fun today...I am really sorry I will miss all of the fun.

It is really cold out..the birds are all huddled up in the sun at the door ways of the coops.
I am making the base for a few pans of chicken pot pie..All I will need to do tomorrow is assemble and put in the oven.

LM had too many beers today....

Cuties thank you for opening up your home to us, we had a wonderful time! Safely made it back home just to take the dogs to the school so they could burn off their energy and I could freeze my butt off....

It was very nice to meet SClark and DS, I hope you made the trip home!

I wish my DH would get home..... I want to hear the deer camp report. All I know right now is my FIL managed to get a deer; first time in many years he has gotten one on opening day!

Well I made it home finally, long day of driving. It was 13 deg when I left Cuties and -1 when I pulled in the driveway. It was nice meeting you ladies today, wish I could of stayed longer. Cuties, the birds are doing good. Brought them in for a photo shoot and ticked off the family for turning the house into a barn for 5 minutes. If I have the names correct, Criss Cross pooped a nice big one
on Tasias leg and she was all dressed up to go out bowling, she wasn't happy! Also thank you so much CS!

Morning all.

Chickens are well. feathers everywhere from the molting. It is finally turkey processing week, Hooray!

I saw 3 yearling deer so far this season. Let em go, hoping for a bigger one or 2. I bet the 3 will grow alot by next Sat. if you know what I mean. Not much shooting around here yesterday. Must be the 20+ mph breeze that limits the deer or the hunters.

good morning,, go gettem all you hunters.. I have a venison drop off station for any extras ..

just enjoyed a small cuppa esspresso .. couldn't wait for the whole pot to brew so I stole a cup out of the first inch in the pot.. one more like that and I will be good to go for a couple of days..

I worked on the plucker I am starting to build.. I had to figure out how to cut a circle on a table saw.
I cut two,, they both turned out great.. they will be the hubs in the 8" pvc pipe that will be the drum..

this is the jig I made.. the 5/8" bolt is the pivot point
