Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I bought a meat grinder from Gander Mountain a few years ago.. I like it .. never bogged it down. I think it has a 1/2 HP motor.. I agree, get the biggest motor you can,, and also get the biggest port you can so You don't have to cut your meat into smaller chunks..

where do you get cut rate sealer bags/rolls ? on line ?

.......jiminwisc.......

we get ours at Menards, but you could check on-line and see what the cost is.

Hi all--I have seen the cheaper bags at lots of places Jim--you just gotta go shopping more often! LOL--I dont really like them though...like H&R said, they dont always seal really well and stuff can poke through them much easier than the regular Foodsaver bags.
BL4--I have an old sealer in the basement that still works (I think) I dont remember why I bought another one now...if you want to use it and see if you like it just remind me the next time we will see each other and I can give it to you. I think it is a Food Saver brand that holds the roll of bags underneath? Let me know if you are interested and I will check it out!

Chores were tough this morning...EVERYTHING was frozen solid! I was really glad that I put the hose down in the pit yesterday! That would have been really bad if I had to carry buckets too! I was sweating by the time I was done for sure. Just dragging that hose around is enough!

I have to check out some recipes to make the pies for T-day next week. er...this week! I am always in charge of the pies....I think I may be out of lard though....this will be a problem. I will have to go and check the basement. The problem is that one batch turned out and the other was rancid tasting!

(and I dont know which is which) You cant taste it until it is baked! Maybe I will go and buy some new stuff...against my principles but...

The interview went well today, I thought. The girls (7 mo and just 4) are adorable! And cuddly! And the 4 YO is really smart! She drew me a turkey and wrote her name above it. Then she wrote "I like you" on a paper and gave it to me! She was a real sweetheart for sure. I sure hope I get hired there. Easy kids are hard to find.

DD21 had a woman come out and ride her horse as a possible lessee today. She commented on FB that she thought she was a novice rider...dont know if that will work with her horse or not...he is pretty smart and can take advantage of a green rider for sure! If she is working with a trainer it should be OK though. If she does lease him I wonder if she will give the check over to us? LOL--yeah, that's what I thought!

Guess I should go and do some "neccessary" computer stuff...like see what bills are due. Have a good night everyone! Oh yeah, I took this pic of myself today...I wore this because the people I went to see are Bears fans!

So I guess I didnt help them win, but maybe wearing the Jennings jersey made him drop the ball?

Hens and roos, so sorry about your bunnies :'( it happened here once too. I had to have scott take care of it. It was sad. She was trying to nuzzle and nurse them. I do think you should try again very soon. I decided not to with max. Didn't think I should put her through that. But she got really depressed and wouldn't eat. And she pulled all her hair and tried to continue to nest. My sis yelled at me that it is what they need if that happens. I googled some stuff and gave her another go. It didn't take. But it amazed me that as soon as she bred, 100% turn around!!
Were you doing Xmas bunnies? I have some of those here now :)

Clark, congrats!! And good luck to your daughter :)

Terri, love your pic!

Hi All!

H&R.....How often do your Wels lay? I was getting about 3-4 eggs a week from my 1 girl, lately it's only been about 2. She's 3, maybe 4.

SClark.... Congrats! ( By now I hope).

Jon's friend came and we (well, he) got a good start on the rooster pen. B.T.W...If someone wants the BLRW roo, he's up for grabs, other wise it's freezer camp with the rest. I lost my BLRW hen so no use keeping him.

Well, tired and things to do yet so Night All!

Congratulations SClark!

Thank you for all the input on foodsavers and meat grinders! Terri, I need one for the venison and since DH shot a deer yesterday, I do not think you could get me your extra one in time. Thank you anyway!

Rescue has still not picked up the dog, and I am getting frustrated. I need him to be at his new place before the holiday. Moving at the speed of molasses.......

Clark- congrats!

Cind- right now no eggs- when laying on average 2 eggs per day.

cuties- we will be re-breeding her probably at the end of this week- giving her a few days just to make sure she isn't going to have any more, waiting to see if the 2nd does kindles or not and also waiting for the new buck to finish quarantine, so far so good for him. We were actually testing the fertility of the older buck(~ 2 years old) she has been using- he isn't getting the job done. He failed in the 2nd attempt at breeding so she would have rabbits to show at fair this past year. She has a younger buck(son to the older buck from the 1st breeding) and he was the one used with the doe who lost her litter. Thinking possible genetic issue. Sometimes different lines aren't compatible

We have made the decision that these 2 bucks will no longer be part of her project. Depending on how the new buck does will determine the direction she takes with the whole project. The older 2 does she has are from a separate line than the oldest buck. We did hold back 1 younger doe who is 50/50 from the two lines, like the younger buck and we will see how she does. Ideally she would like to have 1 buck and no more than 3 does of this breed. She and DS(8) also have a French Angora buck and doe for fiber and 4-H projects. Only so many cages are available so they have to decide carefully as to who stays

ended up cooking up about 13 spaghetti squash yesterday so we will be eating for awhile...time to try different recipes!

Snow looks to be slowing down here- DH is trying to figure out if he will need to go and do removal today....not in the plans but not much of a choice!

Stay safe
