Is there any reason to not give a turkey carcass to the chickens? I jsut put it out there and now 2nd guessing myself?

just make sure your dog can't get to it.. ours did a long time ago, and she died from internal bleeding ..

:-( Sorry Jim. My dog can't get to it-sure she wishes she could-both the turkey and the chickens. She can only watch them enjoying ti and I kinda feel bad. Also was worried about the barn cat that goes in and out with them but as Chickenship reminded me-barn cat catches wild birds all the time and is fine.

Have had the family over for the pat few days....been fun with all the insanity that goes with opinionated college kids, family dynamics etc! Thank goodness BlackBrook is coming over to save the lil sanity I have left!!!
Havent caught up from the past few pages but thought I saw Delish lost more birds-if so, I am so sorry!!!!! I know how well you take care of and love your birds (((Vicki)))

The problem with feeding cooked birds to dogs and cats is the cooking process changes the bone, they splinter instead of crush. You can feed them raw birds without issue.

On our way again!!!!! I should have put my Christmas lights up today since it was so warm. Maybe I will get that done tomorrow......

Well up in Duluth at my cousins wedding... Finger is healing but still kicking self for doing something so stupid... One should unplug when cleaning a clogged blade... just shaking head at myself...

SClark, you are very brave woman to take on such a challenge... Hope that your daughter finds her way and if not you have the strength do the right thing whatever that maybe...

TO I also thought of foster care once the kids get the heck out of the house, haven't pulled the strings on that not sure if I can get the DH to go along with it. I got him into chickens and he loves it.
BTW the new pullets are doing well

All you hunters are using the wrong approach with guns, nearly got a doe one night and a buck the next just driving 10 mph down our little dead end street...I also want to take hunters safety and do some hunting when I retire, and lots and lots and lots of other things. I think I know where you are coming from Jim and also my husband forbids me to use Rosemary in anything anymore.

Ohhh and I did the Thursday night shopping with DD23, she however makes me stay focused we were in and out in an hour...

where is everybody ? they beg us to come back, and then they abandon us..

my wife hates me,, she sent me to F&F for dog food today.. what is it with some people and shopping carts ? do they lose their minds ? some of them are like heifers in a narrow hallway.. they just stop , block the whole aisle and have no regard for anybody trying to get past them in either direction.. I''m not even going to get into how they drive in a crowded parking lot ..

Mom G,, I am old enough to remember when rotary lawn mowers came out.. how many people reached in to clear the grass away from the discharge opening.. lots of fingers lost in that maneuver ..

I picked up 19 guineas today.. somebody was supposed to show up to buy a half dozen of them,, didn't show.. tomorrow another somebody is supposed to show up.. anybody want to get into this pool ??

I had Pea soup and a spotted cow for supper..

and now I am out of things to write about..

Hi All!

SClark.....Wow, I hope all of you can finally get some help. Sounds like a tough but loving road.

Well, I got almost everything done I can do. House isn't as clean as would like, I'm a bit miffed about that. DH came home with 2 hams and 3 whole turkey breasts. I only planed on making a ham for Sun. Then he springs on me that the Church pot luck is this Sun. too!

So, I had to squeeze in making the ham and turkey breasts for the church too! NOT what I planed on doing with my time! Not so much the cooking, but the mess to clean up. Then, he decides he's tired and went to bed at 8:00! I need him to do the floors for me (and they need it bad) because my back can't take doing the vacuum or mopping. If I had more time I could mop on my hands and knees like I usually do. Grrr... just noticed the cat box!

Well, back to work.... night all!

Hey all!! I am loving this time off! It is so noce and today will be a mildly lazy day! I am cought up on most things around here.

Del, I also am tired of turkey! We have now made it into gravy for buns. Very goood. How are your gold laced? I hopefully they pull through.

Bigz I hope all goes well with your cockeral. I will get you a back up for sure in spring if anything does happen. But we get so attached. Hope he is just fine.

Clark, I had no idea. That has to be the hardest situation. I know how much we love our kids. And it would be a bad thing to go through. I do know that people who are addicted like that will absolutely never get help because you want them to. I hope that the day comes when your daughter realises and makes that decision. I am praying for your strength to continue to do the right thing. I know it is hard to do. But you k now it will be worth it for that sweet baby in the end!

Bbl4 sounds like you thanksgiving is just as busy as our christmas!

Terri, I keep forgetting to say! The hubbord was a huge hit with the fam very good I must say. We have lots left over! Have been eating t every day. Scott has some seeds dryimg and plans to plant them next year.

Jim, the parakeets.are good. We can not seem to calm the white one. She is very fiesta! The other 3 are doing good. Only nibbling the kids are in love for sure! They love to sit up on the fan blades. Ione more thing for mom to clean!

x2. I must agree with Ang. And coupled with your own health issues, it cannot be an easy situation to have to endure, but I commend you on your efforts and your love of family. Too many people nowadays do not have the patience and might have washed their hands of the entire matter a long time ago.
