Mostly a browser on this forum, but wanted to post that I also got my first egg today! Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Spent the day home from work with my boys (age 4 months and 19 months) and it was indeed a blessed day. Thomas helped me collect our first egg.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

We have so much to be happy for today. We had duck and SQ Silkie eggs that were suppose to hatch this Saturday well they decided to start hatching late last night and today so we have Thanksgiving babies! I had 4 out of 5 ducklings hatch and 9 out of 12 silkie eggs hatch. We started with 14 silkie eggs but 2 of them never started developing. So it's pretty exciting. Once I figure out which chicks are which I will be selling the colors I don't like. So if anyone is looking for beautiful silkies I should have some available. They are from Kelar on BYC and are GORGEOUS! Well have a good night all!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!!

I am so stuffed I think I am going to pop!!!

Managed to get my Christmas lights up and on so at least we are making some progress!!!!

Well we had a pretty good Turkey Day... I got a surprise phone call from two friends yesterday, they had to cancel their travel plans and wanted to join us for T-day.. we had already planned for 1, so adding 2 more was not too difficult.
I got a turkey breast, added stuffing to the menu, and added potato salad. PooF!! instant HUGE meal.
We did a great job with our pork loin, and got a great recipe off of the internets.. rub 1/4 cup salt and same of brown sugar, like a dry marinade for 20 minutes.
RINSE thoroughly!
here is a quote from the website page.. its hilarious
For heaven's sake, do NOT leave the salt/sugar mixture on your meat and then place it in the pan. We could not get past the first bite for the salt. If you don't have high blood pressure when you are done eating this you will. I would suggest letting it sit in the salt/sugar for about 20 min. and then rinsing it off and placing the meat in the pan with water. I will say it was really tender, horrifically salty, but very tender.

We finished it with maple and brown sugar.. IT WAS delish!!
I made a chocolate pie, and bought a pumpkin pie, I can make a lot of things.. still figuring out squash and pumpkins though!! LOL
Started early, fed the client horses, took of blankies ( I did a switch last night, one got too wet so he got a dry one)
Called client's son around 9:30 last night, I KNEW he wouldn't be home (client that is). SO fed this morning.
then went out to check my chickens, still getting 3-4 eggs daily from the flock so not too bad. I bedded down their sleeping areas or nest boxes with more hay, and gave them their food.
They are spoiled!!

We drove all over madison, and beleive it or not, after between 8:45 and 9 something the dogs decided they wanted to go out.. so we went for a walk. I can't believe I have this much energy still.
Hubby slept in late, and went to bed early.. me, not so much.. AND i did a bulk of the cooking, he did the pork.. rinse off meat, put in oven, sit around for an hour.. take a shower, while I turned the meat.
sat some more while I got it out, drained the water, packed it for the trip. Sat at friends while I prepped it for the finishing and re-heating...

I worry about him sometimes!! LOL

See you all tomorrow.

Good Late Morning to All! Big Welcome to Dandelion Acres and Hurley! Hey Hurley do you have a brother in Appleton? We might be distantly related. I'm sorry! DA congrats on the meat in the freezer! Too all the first eggers, cool huh? Ya always have to take a pic of the first few. It's a matter of pride. Don't know if it's because their poult eggs or what but the slw eggs are really smooth to the touch. Sounds like everyone had a great and bountiful T'day. We did too! Got to see almost the whole family it was really nice! Did something today that I've never done and don't know if I'll ever do again. Got woke up at 4:18 by Bob with a cold wet nose touching my nose. Which is better than he used to do by touching his cold wet nose to my REM eyelids. So I went to Staples and bought a new all in one printer which we needed cause the OLD printer is acting up. 10 minutes to decide and 45 in line. Glad I only had a couple cups of coffee! But saved $140 and we all had fun conversing with each other. Got it home and discovered it's wireless only. Newfangled! We have dial up. So on the phone and found out that over all we'd save $6/month by going wireless. Won't know how to act with all that speed. Probably jar my retina's loose. Just spent an hour with an old friend that was home from AZ. to hunt, he was heading back but wanted to visit. It was good to see him! We talk every couple of months but it's not the same. Have to get some wood in and clean out the ashes then lunch and nice warm nap. But before that have to see if Bob is sleeping and touch my warm dry nose to his eyelid. He has it coming 10 fold.

Hello everyone! Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!! We had our little episode, but in reality we would have had maybe a scoop of stuffing left and a scoop of mashed potatoes left had I not made anything. Oh well, I'd much rather have leftovers then people not getting a second helping of stuffing!! I can't wait until I can make my own homemade stuffing, I had to make it out of a bag cause we were in a rush. I've never gotten the whole meal at Thanksgiving, I hope maybe next year

So, how many people are out scrambling for xmas gifts? I'm not!!! Not a black friday sorta person. I still don't have peoples xmas lists! I know what I'm getting my mother-in-law (A couple spice kits from penzeys), don't know about my father-in-law, and with the brother/sister in laws we are doing a secret santa sorta thing but we haven't picked names. Then I got the hubby (I want to get him a few dress shirts, I found this cool beer soap on etsy.com that I may get him, and I want to get him some socks for hunting..other than that i'm unsure), the kid (which is easy at this age!) , the sitter, my dad, and my bff (who I am getting a dutch oven, some mixing bowls, a french press, maybe something from penzeys and a package of her fav. coffee.)

I need to dig through my knitting stuff and maybe make my bff a scarf and mittens (she keeps changing her coat color on me tho!), and Hubby wants a hat, and I got some wonderful alpaca yarn. Love to try and knit him some socks to see if they keep him warm also. I'm such a sloooow knitter though!! I may also make some blackberry perserves and maybe some pesto or something to can and have for xmas presents. May also try fudge this year. We will see!!!

What homemade wonders are you guys making for xmas?

I'm sure someones giving some canned goods! My family is more "city slickers" so I keep low on the canned goods. They don't appreciate them as much unless they are kinda unique. They love my jam, but I don't think they'd want a whole basket of it, ya know? So I keep it minimal and they seem content

Well now that I thought about all that, I should go look at my yarn and patterns!!
