Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Ok irrational panic time.... Today is day 21 and with ten eggs in the incubator, I see only one pip so far. Hoping I have not ruined daughters science fair project somehow....sigh...
Hatch darn it.

Ok 4:0 in the morn...let's see if I can get another hours sleep before the craziness of the day starts.
good morning, I was up at 3:45 ..

If you have one pip, you did something right for that egg, therefore you must have done something right for all of the eggs..

go to bed and forget about that egg.. there is not a thing you can accomplish by watching it..

I thought you were going to hatch the eggs at school ? maybe next time.. when you do a school hatch,, duct tape is your friend duct tape the seams,, duct tape the temperature dial.. duct tape the kids' hands to their legs .. and sometimes the teachers' too..

Geez Jim, if I knew my leaving the forum was going to actually "break" your heart I would've come back sooner!

Glad to hear they fixed you up so I can be relieved of any guilt or responsibility. :-D

Those BCM sure do lay some nice sized eggs. I am glad she is laying well for you and her color is dark already..it will get so much darker if it is dark already.

well like Jim said..you did something right and a pip on day 20 is good..even a pip on day 21 is good. If you are using styro foam it is wonderful!! Just don't mess with it. resist opening it at all costs.

I lost power for 6 hours last week and did not think it would hurt much since I covered the incubator, but it did make a difference. I tossed out a dozen eggs last night at candle. They must have been at a critical development stage. The incubator did get down to 60 but only for an hour. I did not think it would kill them. I was wrong. The ones that were just put in are fine and the ones that were farther along are fine but the dozen that were in the middle of development..on day 10..just stopped.

Quick post for me today...already wasted too much time on here! I am very worried about my broody's eggs for that same reason Deli--she was stupid(or another hen was) and kicked them out of the nest, then she went into the next door nest and sat on lightbulbs! Sheesh...I should just toss them all! Probably too early for outside anyway...

I have to go to work :( I just want to stay in...-5 and really windy even here behind my hill! I hate southerly winds!
Later folks--have a good one! TerriO

Hear Ye, Hear Ye.......

I have devised a plan to, um, assist my 3 amigos in learning the meaning of work and I need your help.

If you live within an hour of my house and need help cleaning out your coops, barns, etc (once we begin to thaw) I am volunteering my 3 children to help with the work.

The catch.....you must be willing to set expectations and ignore the whining. No payment will be accepted!
