Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Afternoon Everyone.....went to Clintonville to pick up the tax returns and then to the local mill for some more corn to feed the wild turkeys. It's nice to see the price drop some more...now it's 12.50 per 100lbs....that will bring the price of layer down quite a bit...thank goodness for that.

I scraped the windows in the coop this morning to let the sunshine in....it was funny to see bigz stand in the ray that was coming in..I think he was looking like taking a nap! He is not happy with this cold weather at all...kinda like me...LOL!

We made the last half breast of wild turkey from last spring...TO it was really tender and delish. The 4 cups of broth that are left will be used when I make oatmeal for the flocks the next 2 days....they will like the flavor for sure, and nothing gets wasted here. We just can't eat that much gravy, if we woulda used it for that.... even though it does make the best. I'm on a diet....

Keep em hatchen... bigz

I am pretty sure these are all males for you to choose from. All the down is blue but some of the feathers are coming in pretty dark.
You really do hatch males, huh? Pretty birds though!

good morning, well almost , more like mid day..

quick question,, who is from New Berlin ? have kids in school there ?
My niece teaches music in two of the public schools there.. up until this morning, I knew she taught, but I didn't know where..

anybody from Viroqua ? I am corresponding with a guy from there for stud service for his Great Pyranese .. maybe you know him ? PM me.. i will give you his name ..

I found out last night that if I holler at the puppies, they will shut up.. Oh what a relief it is .. there is one that just goes on and on and on ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, the rest are not too bad, though..

they are going out to the lean to on Thursday .. I will supply some heat for them ..they will have a straw bale house to snuggle under..

5 of them are quite social with people now.. 3 of them stay aloof .. I like those 3.. they will make the best LGD's..

cuppa is gone, and I am still in my PJ's.. time to get dressed and lounge around the house some more..

My brother lives in Viroqua, but I doubt he'd be able to help.

Jelly is still going at it, though. I guess staring at things is her birthright!

The trio in the brooder. Looks like I'll be staying up waiting for the chicks to dry so I can put them in the brooder. Good night to those granting themselves sleep! :)

Hi All!

Well, Bean, I'll be up for a little bit to keep you company. Neil made a eye appointment for noon so I'll have to get my ***** up by 10:00 LOL

Not much new, Jon should be around west TX or maybe NM by now.

Night All.

Good morning, everyone! Here is my current head count, and I hear more peeing from the incubator. Hopefully I will have a pip when I get home. I have two birchen modern games, two silkies (one black, one white), and one lakenvelder.

Has anyone ever used zip ties to identify a chick? My two modern games are both solid black, and I'd like to be able to tell them apart. All I did now was put a blotch of green food coloring on the new chick.

Good morning beanzie! Cute babies ♡ I use zip ties all the time. They even sell teeny tiny ones that work well for the little chicks. We just make sure to check them often. And a toe nail clipper works well to remove them.
