Babysitting my sisters kids this morning while she is at the docs office. Poor kid has shingles.

Vet appointments this afternoon for the seniors. Hoping for good news but prepared for the worst.

Cute chicks, wish I could hatch my own!

Good morning beanzie! Cute babies ♡ I use zip ties all the time. They even sell teeny tiny ones that work well for the little chicks. We just make sure to check them often. And a toe nail clipper works well to remove them.

in the trades we call them tie-ties..
I noticed that on the big chickens, the sun bleaches the color out after awhile. so if you are color coding, be prepared to change the ties once in awhile..
maybe I just had cheap ones that faded .

about a month ago, I listed baby parakeets and cockatiels on craigslist .. yesterday I had two different women each inquiring about the baby cockatiel and parakeet ..
Both of them had contacted me way back then..
Ladies, they keep growing.. DUUUH !!! .

I told them no babies, now they are young birds..

I'm glad to see you continue to make progress on the pain management, good to always take that Tylenol with food, been reading all sorts of stuff lately on the effects on the liver, who knows but doesn't hurt to err on the side of caution.


chicscratch: I jumped the gun last year and started seeds far too early. This year I'll start them in a couple of weeks. Kristip is joining me and a couple of friends on the 22nd to start seeds. The friends are chicken people too - should be lots of chatting and potting.

Good morning, everyone! Here is my current head count, and I hear more peeing from the incubator. Hopefully I will have a pip when I get home. I have two birchen modern games, two silkies (one black, one white), and one lakenvelder.

Has anyone ever used zip ties to identify a chick? My two modern games are both solid black, and I'd like to be able to tell them apart. All I did now was put a blotch of green food coloring on the new chick.

I have used zip ties..I now use different color vet wrap..

My computer is being weird...I think the newer laptops are meant to last about 2 years...that seems to be what I am getting out of them anyhow!
Just wanted to say that that is an excellent idea about the vet wrap for chicks and maybe even chickens! It expands as they grow! I know that I had a few that grew so fast it seemed that I was changing ties weekly! What I do to ID them now (learned it from the gal from Milw) is to put a color coded pony bead on the tie. Easy to see from far if they are ranging and I havent had one fade yet!

DH wants something "Cajun" for Fat Tuesday so I guess I better find something to make since I have this day free from "going to work" not that I am not working of course!

Nice job on those chickies!

I took in 8 adult rabbis that were dumped off in someone's driveway. Put a posting on a Facebook farm site stating that they were rescues and free to good pet homes. Man, the word "free" brings out the crazies. One lady wanted a few to just release into her barn. Another lady wanted 3, preferably pregnant. A high school who is friends with my cousin wanted 2. This girl is constantly letting her dogs breed and the puppies end up at the Humane Society, not to mention the ones that have been hit on the road. Not to mention she feeds her ferret live mice!
So crazy lady that wanted pregnant rabbits wanted to come yesterday. I did not make an appointment with her or anything. I had the day off of work and went shopping. Came home near dark. I told her there was no sense in coming to pick out outdoor rabbits after dark. She started sending me crazy messages, asking where I lived, demanding my phone number, saying she knew I was home because she knows how long it takes to get home from Woodbury. Then my Mon texts me. Says some lady with no teeth stopped over wanting rabbits. The stalker must have checked the Platt book. The only land that's in just my name is next to my moms house. Then she sends me another message saying she's at Subway. She wants directions. I have my mom look at a picture on Facebook to make sure its the same lady. yep! So, I blocked her on Facebook and I guess she's raising a stink on the farm site. What is wrong with people?! So, I may be stuck with the 7 rabbits that I have left Afraid to advertise any more. Oh gosh, white elephant gifts at the bash! Hope you all like bunnies. Lol

good luck, I don't need any other bunnies, sorry. wondering if you tried craigslist or another fb site and put them up for $5 each or something? there is a midwest critters site on fb that is pretty good usually. altho your crazy lady might be patrolling there as well....

Let me get ahold of some people...there is a bunny rescue near Madison...I know they are on facebook...I just need to find out their name. They might be better equiped to background check etc...

chick question... one of mine drops its wings alot. I keep thinking it might be hot and move it out of the way of the heat lamp, but it keeps going back over there too. It is my smallest one. Not as big as the others...Any suggestions?

yesterday I removed my posting on Puppy Find.. Talked it over with Annie and decided to re-post the ad.. this time with pictures and I sent the $20.oo so that they can release my contact information to the people who might respond.. (they also have to pay $20.oo for the information)
I know this, because I had to do it when I bought Puppy (aka Bobby Joe)..
yep, listing is free,, but anything beyond that is gonna cost you..

I got an email from a guy in central Minnesota about the pups.. He said he was confused about the price.. in the heading it said $1.oo.. for some reason, craigslist defaults to $1.oo sometimes in that info box.. I informed him that the $400.oo in the body of the ad was the correct one.. then he wanted pictures.. I sent a few.. No more from him..
