Hi all--2 posts in ONE day...WOW! I am actually enjoying a beverage before going out for a FF. But DH has no idea where he wants to go and neither do I...I am actually thinking an omelet would be good! I wish I could have stayed home from my jobs today...it was pretty nice out there! I was watering this afternoon and saw that a hen turkey had a weird protrusion on her side. I grabbed her and it turns out that she had been attacked (by something) and a large portion of her side was torn and formed a flap. Because of the skin granulating the attached feathers were sticking out! I trimmed them off and the wound looked like it was healing OK. Unfortunately much of the flap of skin was still alive looking so I couldnt trim that off too. I am continually amazed how well these birds can heal when there are no flies around! And DH says we dont "need another stinking dog!" I read your post Jim about sending puppy pics to your friend.....At this point I am thinking a LSGD would not be a bad idea!

I haven't decided whether I'm boarding up my raised beds or just mounding them. I've never done either, but I'm leaning to just mounding the soil. I'll use garden cloth to mark my spots for now. But I might just till it all too. I just hate grass growing in my garden!

Chickens were chomping at the bit to get out today and loving scratching in the mud finding worms, bugs, and stuff.

A prof a work is teaching a Plants & People class and to teach her students about crop management they all grew a variety of items. Guess who is bringing them home? This girl! Today I brought home cauliflower, kohlrabi, spinach, onion, and cucumber. I plan to replant them all (except for the onions) and get them outdoors.

Terri, I really don't have any etched in stone plans for the new dog < Bo.

Puppy is getting better with him.. at least while I am out there.. I just say NO and he keeps his distance..

I would like to let Bo run loose a little, but I am afraid he might just take off down the road..

good news,, the guy from Minn called me and we had a nice chat.. he is sending me a down payment tomorrow for the curly headed male puppy.. (my favorite btw)

tomorrow I am delivering a cockatiel to a lady near Stevens Point.. with a cage.. I will be down there around 1 PM.. if anybody wants to have coffee , let me know.. I'm buying ..

Sorry for the loneliness in front of your puter Jim, but sometimes people have some things to do on a Friday to be prepped for a cooler weekend and maybe finally getting to clean out some pens etc. you sure could have let out cries of despair and I'm sure someone would have given you a couple of words to read before now!

Here, I took care of all the pheasies, chickens and ducks. Tried to clean up some of the worst goo and poo and tried to avoid the big puddles of water from the melting snow as not to sink any further into the muck. Supposed to get another couple of cold days now (with even -6 on Sunday morning! Brrr) and maybe some more of the white icky stuff before it warms up again nicely end of next week. Can't wait for that again!
It seems spring has finally decided to slowly move in even in the north here and I'm liking it! Now as just for the snow to slowly melt for we don't swim in this wet mess and all should be looking up again!

Aaah, back to relaxing a bit before raiding the fridge for some munchies...
I warned you all that I was going to be a nuisance .. I am not allowed to do a darned thing..
I can't lift more than 10 pounds.. I do cheat and carry the 5 gal waterer, but I do it only with my right arm..

the chicken coop is thawing very nicely.. now I know how much water the geese slobbered when it was freezing .. tomorrow I will spread some straw (with just one hand) to sort of give us something to walk on and keep our feet clean. I can't shovel anything ..

Poor kitties....... Jinx is doing pretty well but Annabelle is refusing to leave her stitches alone, so she is now wandering the house in one of my daughter's baby dresses.

Broke my cake stand tonight

, then the big dog peed on her big bed.......

The 'pi' was really good though.

Jim, you chat on here all you want, I am sitting here doing nothing most days so it is nice to read an update or two.
