Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Just checked out your Blog DA--it is neat! I am going to try to get that farming book you talked about at the library...otherwise I might just have to find one on eBay to buy. Thanks for the idea about the rabbits in the coop...I only have 2 and that might be a really good idea to put them in there for the winter. I used to do meat rabbits but after I had a freezer full I quit...well that and a dog I have decided that she would jump into there enclosure and kill them all in one fell swoop! Make sure when you pasture them in rabbit tractors that you have some screening extending beyond the edges of the tractors. They are really good at digging out and hawks only eat the brown ones...dont ask me how I know this!
Nothing happening weatherwise here yet...DH says it is headed our way according to the radar. Yeah ODrH; we have 38* here and the snow is just melting enough to glaze the ground so you and I can be sliding like crazy after it refreezes! Always a really FUN time! I sure wish the kids would get back from Madison...I hate to think of them on the road. (worry wart that I am!)
DH has his Chili in the slow cooker--I hope it isnt too hot to eat this time!

And that's not me mad....it's my mouth burning up! I have some broccoli cornbread ready to mix up and put in the oven too...at least I will be able to eat that!

Frigid Afternoon All...hope anyone that has to drive in this stuff has a safe ride to and fro wherever. I use to have to run around from 12 to 14 hours a day in this stuff...don't miss a bit! We have 8" so far, Jim has 12" and plans on getting 18" to 20"...gonna be quite a pile here for sure!
Glad the plastic is on the windows of the small coop. Seems to help alot. Really nasty here now the extreme winds and already dropping temps.
I'm gonna wait to do any snow removal til it's all over. Suzie fryed venzun liver and compiled the leftovers that weren't gonna be eaten by us for the flock today. Looked like loaded potatoes. The flock was to busy eatin it to sing....

Nothing like a wood fire on a day like this, eh!
Moved all the potatoes and onions in today from the garage. Piled the friges full of tatoes and onions, and moved the beer to the garage where it will be lip smackin cold! Might of just talked myself into one...

We just LOVE the snow here! Plowed once around 10am and will have to do it again.

I love that too. Plowin' through the snow on 4 wheeler.

My girls aren't too sure about that snow. THey go out for about 5 minutes and right back in the coop. But my duckies are loving it! They go around the coop and into the woods and back again. It really is a "winter wonderland".

And still getting 19-23 eggs a day. And that's with 2 broodies and about 10 girls who still have to start laying. Not bad, I say.

Well-gotta go play in the snow some more. Wish it was packing snow, like last time. This isn't, and I really wanted to fix the snowman we built. He's like the "Leaning tower of Pisa".

Made it to work and back home, the drive in was by far, MUCH better than the drive home! Not much snow all day long in Oshkosh, and since there was an emergency with the SW tank I scooted over to the UW for a few minutes to check things out. Headed home at 3:40 on wet roands. Apparently in the next 20 minutes the teps dropped like a rock....... wet roads to glare ice! I watched a police cruizer and a snowplow fishtail (never a good sign....), and this was at 30 MPH. The bridge over the Wolf River was a skating rink; nothing over 20..... I was VERY happy to make it home! Now I am just chillin' with a glass of wine trying to unwind...... Let it snow all she wants to now!!!!

The kids let the ducks out into the yard so they could investigate the snow; they though it was like a big pond! Those buggars were trying to swim and bathe in it!

goofy ducks....... I am so happy we got their shelter/pen built when we did! Not a moment too soon!

Everyone enjoy your evenings! Keep warm and take it easy on the shoveling!

Well it's still pouring rain here...I am betting that we WONT get any snow at all! It is about 36* so just wet and miserable...going out now to do chores and then off to bed. Just cant get real warm like when the wood stove is going!
