Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Not much happening here.
Storms were mild, only a few branches down. No standing water.
My broody has given up finally! Chaos is lightening up between the chicks and the hens. They are still hiding out in the rabbit hole though.
Theo is mostly understanding his job, but he has a limited time before he wants to play. As far as his guarding, he is noticing more and more sounds and investigating.
We've had 2 companies quote us for fencing for the front yard. Since we decided that we were gonna fence it in, we've had 1 neighbor come up the drive, knock at the door, look into the backyard at the garden, and leave when my dad didn't answer. We also had a car come up, turn around and leave. We do not have a sign that reads "everyone invite" nor does our driveway look like a road. We do have a "No trespassing" sign.
TO-sorry about Elliot!
Good luck with the hatches, dogs over the 4th, and home projects.

Just got done reading 7 pages.

Why is it when I read every day, there are only a few posts, but when I'm gone for 3 days, everyone goes nuts?

Or so it seems..................

So sorry about Elliot and all the losses. So glad things are looking up for some, and really hope everyone stays safe from the storms. Waukesha got nailed yesterday but luckily we did not. I was watching a few dead poplars swaying in the severe winds last night but they are all still standing so far.

Sounds like DH is home from band practice. Ta-ta!

Hi All!

TO... So sorry about Elliot

bl4... cool pics!

Rberry... congrats on the roof!

Irish... sorry about the eggs.

I'm sure I missed stuff.

Well, this afternoon there was a commotion in the coop and I went to check it out, nothing. Then i turned to go back out and there was Jasmine on the perch of her cage.... then I got the whiff! Apparently the eggs I let her set on until I got her new ones... POPPED! EWWW!
So while she was on the roost I cleaned her cage and gave her fresh straw. And checked to see if she got any of it. She must have felt it coming because it didn't seem like she got any on her. I gave her a mix of the eggs I picked up on Sun and she settled right in on them and threw some fresh straw on her back so I guess she's ready for round 2! I'll be giving her egg every couple of days and a light dose of Save-A-Chick in her water since she's sat so long already.

Night All!

Where is everyone?

Bonus, Theo did not knock down the garden fence last night

I just sent a request to our town council regarding the status of my chicken ordinance. They had said on April 7th that it was a 45-60 days process. Their time is up, so I'm inquiring!

Had my first video interview this morning, that was different....

CS, keep us updated!

Cind, sorry your hen was sitting on time bombs!

Terri, I am sorry about Elliot. I liked that dog.

good afternoon,
I found some of the problem of my poor puter reception.. one of the black walnut trees branches grew out and was tickling the receiver dish.. I trimmed a few feet off and now I can at least get online, although it still does take some wrangling to do it..

I was well into setting concrete forms yesterday when DD#1 called, Do you want a deer to cut up?
so off I went to pick up a small deer.. I got it cleaned up and ended up with 29 pounds of ground venison.. plus a large kettle of scrap stew for the dogs .. I had to discard about half of the beat up carcass .. I saved a few ribs . even the backstraps were junk.. I didn't bother saving any roasts or steaks.. in fact, I ground up the ternerloin into the hamburger..

I will get a couple of hours to work on the concrete forms today.. the sun is hot, but the wind is cold. how does a person dress for that ?

Jim P's buineas are hatching..

I have a neighbor coming over this afternoon to get a cluck and some eggs.. I am going to maybe send a rooster along with him..

and another neighbor said she wanted to pick up a rooster today, too..

I hope they both show up ..

good afternoon,

I just sold 2 clucking hens .. Now just you watch.. as soon as they get to their new home, they will quit being broody .. but then , maybe I found a cure ? loan out your broodiys for a couple of days and then bring them back home after they break ..

baybay, I was going to send some sun your way, but I didn't know exactly where you live..
I am guessing near G Bay ?

I was going to take a nap, but my wish came true,, both people showed up for chickens. the lady didn't take a rooster.. she wants a colored one.. I only have one like that and I am not allowed to get rid of it..
now it is too late for my nap, I have to leave in a half hour to get GS from work..

.........jiminwisc.......
I have a few guineas to transfer into the chick tv. some are mine, and some are Jim P's..

change of plans, DD#1 will pick up GS.. Good.
Now I can stay here and work on my sidewalk..

I wish somebody would post so I know if my inbox is working or not ..

Hey...I'm south of Jim and I too would love venison!

Early Evening All...I was behind with the reading...I read it all and want you to know I wish I could reply to all... love the good news and sympathy to those that have bad news.....that should cover it, eh!

Rain, rain, rain...a Summer to remember for sure.

Hard to believe it's this wet here. The gardens are going to be a 50% loss this year...first time ever....and no, I won't be looking for a handout from the Gov....my loss and I accept it.

Have fun...bigz
