Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

wow the rain and wind is wicked. Poor cookie is a freak with the storms and the 4th of July noise. She has busted down all of my fence so far and I have spend so much time repairing every morning. Today I decided to just leave her. She will not get out from under the coop. The new mom that came out today is not a happy camper. She keeps trying to attack her to get her to move and cookie is solid as a rock under there.

I found two chicks under the turner this morning. I took the left over eggs from the new mom after she got off the nest yesterday and they must of hatched last night. Poor chicks. One does not look like it will ever recover. I will try to stick them under her tonight and pray for the best.

Good hatch and sorry about the loss of your one and only Orp loss. I am sure you will hatch more..soon.

I had a woodtick in my ear. Just thought you should all know.
Had to laugh found one on the back of my head this morning while getting ready for work. Darned pirate dog. He goes for a walk picks em up brings them to bed and his repellent works so they hop over to us people...

TO yeah that downpour was something else, after the heaviest of it passed those dumb birds when back out in it, yep they are bird brains...

All of you walking dogs in fields; get a couple of lint rollers (the tape kind) and go over the dog and your pant legs once you are finished with your walk. It should pick up the ticks on the surface of the fur before they have a chance to dig in.

Pathetic storms here, not much in the way of rain either. We did have a beautiful double rainbow on Sunday. I'll post a pic from my phone in a bit.

Pretty boring here otherwise.

Here you go!

And another....

This was one of the best, brightest, and long-lasting double rainbows I have seen in a very long time. It was visible in a complete arc for over half an hour, and stayed bright the entire time.

My crazy broodie isn't going to pop open any of those eggs - what a waste! She just couldn't stay on them long enough to make it work. Maybe next time.

I was looking forward to having some little peeps running about!

Hi All, What a beautiful day after all these storms. The roofers came on Friday to start shingling the house, they worked Saturday morning and came back yesterday. They will be back one more day this week to finish up I'm so VERY happy

Rod was a lead carpenter and the young guy he used to work with has been helping him from the start (they took off all the old shingles the end of April). There was so much the previous owners did wrong and let go that it has taken this long to replace rot and rebuild. Oh yeah . . . and Mother Nature has certainly made this an adventure, I've never seen so much rain leak into a house. I can finally put away the plastic tarps, buckets and rags.

MomG: Nice to see your hen is being such a good mom to the turkeys

Angieb: Good luck with those remaining hatches

Terri: Very sorry to hear about the dog. Next time your on line, PM me your addy I have something to send you. Tommy made the big time again.

Irish: I know just how you feel. I was so looking forward to another broody with her babies and it was a no go. Kristip was able hatch them for me.

Friday I picked up our 160 meat chicks, only lost one so far. Another is a runt and has a bad leg, but gets to the food and water - we'll see. Well time to tend to those little critters.

Have a good evening
