Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hi All!

Went to Delish's today and got some eggs to keep at least one of my girls happy! We had a nice visit in spite of the fact that I was getting a bit "scatter brained" with the heat and humidity. Although I will say, she gets a nice breeze in her yard.

Looking forward to eggs from Terri to keep the other one happy!

Keep the good hatches going!

Night All!

good morning,

have a clear signal right now, so I am going to try a post ..

going to delay picking up my bagged concrete mix until tomorrow.. not supposed to rain much after today, and I am going to store it on the trailer..

I will pick up the form lumber today and see if I can get the sidewalk all formed up..
the most difficult part of this whole job will be finding all my concrete finishing tools..
the second most difficult part will be keeping the chickens from putting their foot marks in the wet concrete ..

GS needs a ride to work and I have an invite ro go to breakfast, \\

bbl later......jiminwisc.........

Thank you for the nice visit! I was glad for the breeze. It was a beautiful day to set outdoors. Happy hatching!!! I hope they do well for you.

just as I threatened, I am back..

had a nice breakfast, picked up my 2 x 4's..
now to go make some fancy strike off forms for the sidewalk..

I am planning on making the sidewalk slope a little, and going to form it slightly dished in the center so the water doesn't spill off the sides.. I never tried this before, I hope I can make it work ..

taking the rest of the keets out to join their siblings in the guinea pen.. this warm weather is perfect for starting chicks.. hardly need the heat lamp at all..
and the best thing of all, they are out of the house..

So I started with 31 eggs, a couple mysteriously disappeared, two died during hatch, a few non fertile....ended up with 16 live chicks. I lost one ENg Orp this morning-was weak when it hatched and had foot issues. I now have 15 with two questionable. Ones feet/legs aren't working well but it manages to hobble around and is active/alert but not eating yet0think this one will make it. Then another lavender faverolles who just seems weak-hatched late yesterday and when I dipped its beak in water it drank and drank. Might just be behind the others and still young-crossing my fingers. There is another chick who is hilarious in that it keeps trying to bite, attack me-anyone else had this in 2 day old chicks?

Afternoon All... Congrats on your hatch angiebubs....now you have some newbies to work into the flock before Winter...plenty of time yet to get er done....

I don't like the belly in the walk idea...I do like the pitch for runoff...the belly will be standing water and ice during the Winter...go with the pitch only Jim...in my opinion.

Trip to Green Bay this morning for suzies mother's second cataract surgery....the road construction is enough to cause stress, and cause heavy lifting of cold ones...once home.

Need to get at the gardens...so here I go...

Later...bigz

Afternoon all, been busy... Got into the garden for the weeds and now I am laying down newspaper around the tomatoes, peppers, broccoli and brussel sprouts... Should have tried this earlier it would have maybe saved me 4 hour and a little sun burn...Gotta to get the peas picked today/tonight or else!
Mom hen is doing really well with the baby turkeys, they are starting to look like turkeys now with their downward tails. She (mom)

is a beauty Terri golden head and dark body and an amazing mom... This was last Sunday, I think this week there are about twice the size...
Stay cool all

I am going to have both, a dished out effect, and the whole thing will be pitched to the south..
the dish is going to be like 1/2 inch deep....the pitch will be more noticeable .. the problem I have is that the roof of the lean to drains right onto this walkway..
poor planning on some body's part,

I took J M's 18 BO"s out to join all the other babies.. plus, Annie found a keet that one of the guinea hens hatched in the lean to.. brings it up to 103 keets ..

3 guineas just hatched.. within this past hour.. I thought they were finished .. (106)

Annie listed them in the shopper.. It will come out tomorrow, there should be a phone call or two from that ..

I am waiting for it to cool off .. then I will go set up the forms for the sidewalk,, should take only about an hour or so..

it was raining when I came down here,, maybe it will hold off a bit.. supposed come at us with a vengeance at about 8 PM..
