Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Our snow melted alot too, but refroze over night. I wished I would have had time yesterday to shovel out the coop/run, but didnt get home until after dark. Now everything is frozen again with a nice layer of ice over the top. Just about landed on my backside while out feeding and gathering eggs.

Does anyone know if its ok to put sidewalk salt out by the chickens to melt that ice? Or do I just need to wait for a thaw again?

Oh also, I have 2 cats. My female is coming into another heat cycle. Will be planning a litter of kittens soon! Will let her have a few more cycles first, so make sure she is mature enough etc.

I cant wait! They will make such cool looking babies!

This is Isis the soon to be momma cat

We usually just crack open about 5 and microwave them for about 15-20 seconds. (just watch them. They cook fast) 5 bobwhite quail eggs are about the same as 1 chicken egg. YUM! YUM!

Here's a nice youtube video for you all. See you next year!!!!

Not sure about putting sidewalk salt out-it probably would add to much salt to their diet, maybe putting sand out to help with traction, hopefully that might help.

Our whole yard is sand. We are home to the sugar sand! lol, I will see if we can can some to put out there. I was worried about them eating the sidewalk salt too, so I'm glad I asked.

welcome magoochie ! everyone here is great and will help you out any way they can.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!

havent seen that cat around since the other night i still think he was after the chickens but i could be wrong. He looks like one of the big tomcats that we used to have running around here that dissapeared about 2 years ago. he had very distinctive markings he had 2 circles on each side of him and stripes coming from his head into the middle of his back. very cool looking and friendly as heck this must be one of his kids or something that wondered up. people keep dropping cats off around here . at one time we had 9 and i dont remember bringing any of them home myself!

hey i got my first white egg today it was from one of my Ancona hens. one of them is the friendliest chicken i have and the rest you cant get anywhere close too.

well hope you all have a safe night and stay outa jail lol

Thanks! Isis is 1/2 Bengal, and marbles is a purebred Bengal. We thought it would be fun to see what they could make. I have never had a cat that had babies before, so I'm really looking forward to it.
