One of 4 I am trying to re-home. She is a hatchling from this summer, so about 6 months. TO has staked out a claim on the three grey calls I am also trying to re-home. I live in town and having 7 calls in the backyard is a little bit noisy! I think if we whittle it down to the magpies and the black, we should be ok with the noise pollution!

Happy New Years everyone!! I am welcoming the new year....with a cold!

I feel like I drank as much as my hubby last night, and I didn't have a sip! My throat is swollen and sore, but it's ok. Hubby made me coffee and just brought me breakfast. Looks like a day in bed with the electric blanket for me!

Mag) I know a lot of people on the garden forum I frequent say Johnny's seeds, but i've looked and they are expensive!! Really expensive! I have also heard Baker Creek and Sandhill pres brought up too. You know what I do? I order my seeds off Ebay. I've had good luck so far (buying from good sellers of course) and then i'm able to get more seeds at a better price. I am planning on buying my strawberry plants from Gurney's, and my blueberry/cherry trees from some place local so I can see them. I ordered blueberry plants off ebay, and got some little twigs with a few roots. Planted them and they are still alive, but i'm not thrilled. I wouldn't recommend plants off ebay, but seeds are a great steal!

Hubby did pretty darn good with this coffee! I should make him make it every morning!

DrH) Don't I hear you on water problems! We put in a new water softner, and have had trouble with our well ever since!! We have this sulfur bacteria that is growing, and I guess it lives off iron? It doesn't hurt you, but is flammable and makes our water smell like rotten eggs! We have to bleach the well every 4-6 weeks now. We could get an iron filter for it, but who wants to spend $1,000 on a stupid filter! Ugh! What a hassle. I'd perfer to be on city water (as I was raised on it) and sewer, rather than well and septic but I don't know. I guess I don't see the benefits to well/septic over city/sewer. But if not offered city/sewer you gotta go with what you got!

Hello everyone,

So my grandmother is now in the hospital.

And we had to spend $300 to get our winter car fixed. Oh and the furnace broke and we needed to get that repaired. Hopefully 2011 will be better. Anyway I had a question and I thought maybe someone on here would know. I want to be able to start showing my birds and selling hatching eggs eventually but I know you have to be NPIP certified. So my question is how does this work? Do they register your address? I'm not suppose to have my chickens in town but they don't complain because they are kept indoors so they don't bother anyone. How should I go about getting them tested? I plan to put coops on my grandmothers land next spring so could I have them just put her address if they need one? I really just want to show my birds and take them to swaps. Any advice?

I show my animals and am not NPIP. We just do the county fair, they have testing dates and charge 50 cents per bird. I also have a premise ID number, which is required for showing. You just fill out an application online. It's pretty easy. You don't need anything special for eggs or chicks when selling unless it's at a swap meet or other public place where there will be many birds owned by many different people. I think some states require NPIP cert. to ship in from other states, but it's not really enforced.

all you have to do is call a tester, and find out how much, yes you do need special, for chicks and eggs for hatching at swap meet they will not let you in without it. the cut off for age is 4 months. i get $1 a bird for testing but i do not charge for mileage​
