Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I've volunteered to take the culls from a mini rex breeeder to sell in the store. My daughter has been interested in showing rabbits and the lady gave me a red eyed white that is show quality and a black doe with full pedigree. My daughter likes the black doe, but she has a few white hairs, so won't show well. But she said she does throw blues. I don't know anything about rabbit genetics but I'm going to look into it for fun tonight.

Been a busy couple of days. Had a wedding to go to on Friday, then Saturday night I realized our one cat was REALLY ill, and then of course the ducklings were hatching. We ended up with only one surviving :( I was so worried about the cat yesterday that I did not take the time to drive over to the in-laws and check on them.

Cat went to the vet today and they say he either has a liver tumor, leukemia, or an infection of some kind. We are treating him for an infection since there really is nothing we can do for the tumor or leukemia.

On top of all this the last two kids and I are enrolled in Hunter Safety this week. It will be nice to have that finished.

That is the news here.

Hi All!

Yep. nothing new, well, Jasmine has the kids running around. I'm still busy with the quills.

Thanks for the advice Melanie!

No problem :)
I wasn't sure what to expect either. Our judges were so nice. And even allowed us to hang around while ours were judged. I got to ask all kinds of questions. Ours are still in open. Because the kids are so young.
I hope you guys have tons of fun!

hi all, have posted WAy in the past, gonna attempt to be a "regular" we'll see how that goes. in southern wisconsin, 3 kids, oldest is 6 and a half, starting first grade this year (crazy) second is gonna be 4 in november, third just turned 2. Two boys and a girl. :) Then started hatching chickens last January (pretty sure cuz I can't have any more kids was my need to "hatch" something, lol) kids LOVED it. we went with Silkies, and have two cochins also. my oldest is in our local 4h and showed this year and had a great time.

ended up with 3 goslings from a swap, so now have 3 geese (which we have a big pond, if only they'd use it) have been trying to transition them down to it. got them down there, but only to the spring part, they won't swim in the entire pond yet... crazy things, want to be by us. love to sit below the deck and crap everywhere...

just got 3 belted galloway cattle, cow and yearling heifer and the cow is bred back with a heifer calf at her side. (all to potentially start a small herd and fill the freezer and sell meat/steers).

couple of dogs, old inside cat (15) and a young stray who gets "fixed" at our local vets spay special clinic next week.

and my husband who has stayed with me through all of this. :) do our own gardening, try to put away as much as we can in the freezer, getting some broilers next spring. anyhow, I like to read on this page a lot, thought I should contribute a little.... oh yeah, my husband calls my silkies my "gateway animal" as they lead to all our other animals (geese, cattle.....) lol

talk to every one soon!
Val

one more item.... our chickens just started laying eggs, woohoo! my kids fight over who gets to check the nest boxes daily.
