Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

HI, just a quick hello, I am 130 posts behind... staycation was ok, my father in law passed away last monday, so glad we decided to stay vs go. It was a blessing though, anyone that has gone through losing a loved one to cancer, it is a horrible horrible beast.

what they go through at the end is a blessing when they finally go.

on a side note my neighbors dogs paid us a visit.... while my sitter was watching the kids, we are down to 6 chickens now.... ugh, guess ya can't plan for everything, planning on hatching next spring, just no energy for it this year and my egg lady's chickens have slowed down anyhow, i'm taking that as a sign. anyhow, I will catch up on posts and write some more.

over and out!
My condolences for the loss of your father-in-law.

I lost my father (87 years old) to pancreatic cancer in 2010 and my sister to breast cancer in 2006. It is a horrible disease.

RBerrryChicks, VERY cute chick pics!!!

Cuties, good choice with the horse, I think they work better with kids in the long run, is what we have ours on and they do great. I bet the kids are in love.

Jim, good luck with Dora, she didn't get her name on accident right?

thank you to everyone for the condolences, at the end it turns into a blessing, and I agree the treatments sure take their toll...

Its an organization, National Poultry Improvement Plan. When someone says that their flock is NPIP, it means that they are a member and they have a flock free of disease.
I do not want to disagree with what you said, but, NPIP does not mean your flock is disease free. In Wisconsin, we only need to test for a small amount of diseases. Most flocks have diseases or poultry farmers would not be using antibiotics to stop it. Some people treat with drugs, others treat with a sharp knife, and others let the disease run the course and let the strong survive. Today my flock is disease free..but I can't say it will be tomorrow.

Thank you. You learn something new every day.
please see above.

Sorry about your father in law. Sorry about your loss...I have many silkies chicks hatching..I think I have about 8-10 if you want some silkies.
