Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good frigid morning. I was greeted this am by 12 chickens giving me the stink eye when I went out to their coop. They had run out of pellets in their indoor feeder overnight and were most displeased to have to WAIT for breakfast until 7 am. Poor things.

Think my eggs are done, no peeping for movement from any of the remaining, but yesterday the last remaining silkie egg hatched. Woop! Hope it survives, it looks so tiny compared to the bruiser Marans and the not quite so bruiser Ameraucanas. Looks good, though, so come on chickie!

Hello to all that are new! Just stopping in to say hi. Been up the past two nights with people being sick. Last night it was DH, and oh my gosh was he sick. Why do men always sound like they are yelling at the toliet? I hope I don't puke that loud. LOL and the night before was DD3. Both up at 12 and pretty much every half hour after that. DD3 moved into our bed for the night, which is always fun. DH- was so sad looking this morning. This is one of the few things I hate about owning our own buisness, He has to go in. Not that he would call in anyway, but at least he might think about it. Thankfully he is only working on a basement a couple miles away. I'm about done with this whole sickness, running through out the house. Hopefully it will end with DH.
Ok off to disinfect the bathrooms again.

Hugs Becky!!! I am hoping we dodge the bug here. Hubby is SOOOO tired, he came home and slept.. and then got up, ate, went on the puter, and then back to bed....
Our house is struggling to get UP to 65...

Hurley I sent you an email.
Goth chick.. I realize we are far apart, but I might be willing to drive up and meet on a weekend for some of your chicks..

Let me know if you have any left and what type.

Chilly Morning All... We had a balmy -4 here.
otonoh My friend Jim lives by Wausau and hatches hundreds of chickens, ducks , geese and turkeys. He would sell you some peeps this spring when you are ready. He just loves poultry and is close to you making picking up the peeps easy as it gets. Way to go to be prepared before starting. Alot of good help here on the forum to answer any questions you have.
That's awful nice of you Doc to offer the free equipment....You're the Best!
Hope any of you guys not feeling the best....get well soon!

I really think that is what you men are saying.
Thanks WCc- oh and my house is at 64 if it makes you feel better. My fire never went last night so the boiler temp was 78!

Those of you who use boilers, know that's not good. So the house was 59 when I got up and has been slowly creeping up since. Maybe by the time the kids come home the house will be 68.

Ok just keep me updated. Currently I have:

Hatchery:

15 week old Barred Rock Pair

12 week old White Bantam Frizzle Rooster

18 week old Easter Egger Rooster

Non- Hatchery:

I might also have some non-hatchery silkies and showgirls available. I just need to decide who I want to keep first.

Where are you located in WI? I might be interested in a couple chicks too if it isnt a 6 hour drive!

It would be nice to live with someone who appreciates my chickens. I can't even buy a new incubator because he feels my broody hens should work good enough (I'm sure I'll have some) AND he says I shouldn't hatch anything because I'll never get rid of it. He thinks I want to hatch and keep like 100 chickens. I'm just going to get an incubator when he's out of town. I wanted a sportsman, but maybe I'll go with a Brisnea, the one that holds 24. Big difference, I know, but I need accurate humidity for my call duck eggs so the brisnea will work fine.

Oh BBP- I know your pain. My Dh says the say things. But the one thing he has learned over the years is the harder he pushes, the more I get. He said no to chicks too and I hatched out about 15 last year. He said not another dog and I went and picked one out at the shelter and then took the kids to meet him. I play dirty.

He said no more inside animals, when DD8 was asking for a parakeet. Guess what she got for christmas. When it comes to the animals, he has learned to not say anything. My animals keep me happy and besides I'm the one who cleans up after them, feeds them, buys the food, ect.. I remind him of this everytime he complains. In a joking way I tell him not to make me pick between him and the animals, because it would be tragic if he didn't win.

I love the man to death, but sometimes he just doesn't understand. Good luck with the incubator.
