Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Cuties, I am not sure if I will tag along or drive myself. I think I might be picking up birds (turkey's plus the chickens).... it is still play by ear at the moment.

Deli, you are not afraid your birds could be contaminated?
I am always afraid my birds are contaminated when I purchase new birds. I practice bio security. The new birds were in a different building that is not behind my fence. I always do all confined birds last, and make sure I ware different shoes. I sent in a few vials of blood from my birds to make sure I did not cross contaminate. So far the first batch is clear. I am sending in another batch this coming week when the vials arrive.

yup, a small %age of us are here..

half time with the Pack.. they are coming from behind, but it is still all up hill..

they should run that two minute drill a few times during the game..

having hot dogs and corn o"the cob for supper..

GS just came home from work.. He bought his first tankful of gas yesterday.. $50.oo.. to say he was shocked would be an understatement..

welcome to the real world..
He told me that he wanted to buy a new car..
car payments, insurance, license fees, = more shock .....

I would not tie up my LGD either. We have coyotes, coons, skunks, and wolves, that is why I have cookie. If she protects her flock and gives up her life for the flock, she did her job. Now I need her to kill hawks and I am all good.

I didn't find out about the wolves until just yesterday..  anyhow, my dogs are bred to combat wolves, so what is the use of having them tied up and letting the wolves get my birds ?
If they got Dora, so be it..   I did not bad mouth the wolves, what ever gave you that idea ?
I only mentioned them because that is what I learned ..

I didn't mean that YOU were talking bad about them. And I meant MY dog wouldn't be allowed to be in the yard/woods alone (golden retriever). Basically, I want them to exist, just not around me.

We had a great weekend!
The other jeep was sent to her new home and I will have enough to pay the horsey vet tomorrow ;)
Man! Big horses know how to poo lol I think the two are having eating/pooing contests. I think I will put out one of those free manure ads indefinitely.
We are winding down here. Snack and bed.
Still having an issue with the hawk. I think it is because the Light Brahma stick out too much being so white. And will be keeping the lighter colored chicks in the pen longer. I wish our lgd was protecting the chickies more than his territory.
Hope you all had a great weekend too!

Cuties.......LOL on the poop ! Our neighbor just took two full manure spreaders full of fully composted manure ! I was laughing as he loaded each bucket to the spreader....is that the $2 hay or the $3 hay ?
It was some nice compost. He is coming back for more. He's spreading over his yard which is mostly sand so he can grow grass.
Bet we won't be hearing from Bigz for a while. Didn't bow season start yesterday?
Speaking of Mia where has Heather and Robin been?

Hi All

Facebook seems to have robbed a few people from here.... wish they would return.

Nothing new or exciting from me.... Night All.

I wish we would have some warm dry weather. This constant freezing drizzle is lacking in the fun department. I want to clean out coops, but, not when I drag in more mud than I am removing. This year is the year to paint the interior of two of the coops, with white wash. I have a few months to get her done. One tiny chunk at a time I guess. I might be wrapping one of the coops this year. I read this winter will be colder than last year...ugh. I purchased insulation for the chick grow out pen, so I need to get going on that too. I probably have 30 chicks that I will be growing out for show season next year.

I love dehydrated apple slices and make them every fall. I have a dehydrator so it is easy. I also have one of those peeler/slicers so it is super easy. It is one of those where you impale the apple on the spikes and turn the handle to slice and peel at the same time, it comes out like curly fries. They are all the same thickness so they dry evenly .

The peels get dried on a separate try as a birds nest and are super crispy. My favorite part. I started peeling them because I thought I may use the dehydrated apples for pie or applesauce when we go camping.

The trick is to dip the apples into a solution to keep them from turning brown. I use lemon or lime juice in water, some people use salt water. You can also buy the citric acid powder in the canning department, this one doesn't change the flavor at all. Once they start to brown, they don't seem to dehydrate right and the texture seems a bit funky to me - but that is personal preference.

Morning everyone.
Another foggy morning that will clear up nicely again. No rain or drizzle here, thank you! As long as the deep freeze stays at bay we should be good.

The ducks still enjoy the natural lake and head there first thing after I let them out. The geese will sometimes share too. Lol. So fun to watch, but have a difficult time to get them out if they're not done yet.

The brat is here since Saturday (and no, FB don't swallow me!). At least he spent most of the day yesterday to cut, chop and stack fire wood! Something useful since he still don't contribute a dime to groceries or else. Gosh I'm glad I'll be in town for the next few days!

I'm just gonna miss my cuddle bug Quincy (my crested Rouen). He actually came into my open arms yesterday by himself to get some snuggles!!! That felt so good and made me so happy!

SO is just starting to somewhat get over a stomach bug and slept a good portion of the weekend. Yet he finished painting the condo tower and even the eggs for sale sign and put it out by the road. We even sold our first half dozen eggs yesterday! Woot!

Other than that nothing new here. Dogs are all good with the occasional naughty streak, chickens, ducks and geese enjoying the freshly cut grass and I will head to relaxation later today. Now just to get around to making some apple dump cake and some much starved for banana bread. Hmmm... The smells!

I hope Dora didn't get taken out by wolves!

Our hens have not been laying for a number of weeks while they've been molting. After installing new windows in the garage, DH just installed an outlet for the coop yesterday and I plugged in the lights on a timer again. Hopefully, the light helps get them into a laying cycle again! I should be getting 7 eggs a day and I'm getting one! I also started FF again, so that should help too.

DD13 and I took Theo to PetSmart for the first time this weekend. He outgrew his collar and we had to get a new one for him. Everyone kept wanting to pet him and asked what kind of a dog he was, etc. DD13 walked him all over (I think she loved the attention) while I found a collar big enough!

It's time to clear out the produce from the garden, make way for Fall garden items, and start packing up for winter.
