Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I swear Cuties you said Cochin...... my bad! Thanks for the identity of the other black! I am now realizing there was no feathering on the legs...... I should have caught that. ;)

I don't know what the heck is going on here. Keep me posted on FB as they molt. As soon as the new birds start laying I'll be hatching and I'll get you some pullets!

Things sure are feeling empty outside :( 12 adults and and 11 youngsters left yesterday. We still have just a few more to go. But almost all we planned to get rid of is gone. I will sell a few more of the olive eggers. They are still quite young. On heat. Probably the ones in the barn don't need it. But I always want to be sure they are comfortable.
Yesterday I picked all the ones out that I thought were boys. And sis is going to grow them for food. That was probably the hardest thing ever. But I know I likely won't beable to sell a bunch of baby roosters before winter.
We got two siamese kitties. They are so sweet. And they are actually adjusting better than I thought. I've always thought they would be crazy cats. But sis talked me I to these two. They are acting quite the same as any other adult cat I have brought home. Except very beautiful!

Had a Siamese cat. Unlike any cat we have had since. Did not have her fixed until after her 1st litter. Farmer wanted them for barn cats. about 4 months latter when we saw him............all Siamese killed. They kept leaping at him & attacking from the rafters. Not a one in our house that didn't have a bite or scratch mark from our Siamese. Loved that cat for nothing else it cleaned the clock of any dog dumb enough to come into our yard.

I hope you get tamer version than ours.

good morning,, on my 3rd cuppa .. been up since 6:3o..

went to the neighbors last night and had a couple beverages of choice.. they were celebrating 50 years since they bought their farm,, they should get a prize for most improved and innovative ideas..
there must have been 200 people there,, cars lining the road as if there was an auction..

my guinea buyer said he was coming this afternoon,,
anybody want to get into THIS pool ?
I am betting a no-show..
this is the second time I have corralled up that flock of guineas.. and it is the last time for this guy..

I am taping the pack/bears game just in case I get interrupted

there are still a couple of adult guineas running around, they are harder to catch.. you know, they have been there, done that, too many times..

I am going to have to tie Gus up,, he was a half mile up the road yesterday,, Annie told me just this morning,, I didn't know he was wandering..
he must do it only when I am not home, because he is always waiting for me when I go outside..

what worries me worse is the fact that he was close to the guy who always has a gun handy,,
I don't know if he would shoot my dog, but I don't know if he wouldn't either..

I am going to go searching for How To Make A Concrete Counter Top , online..
I know the procedure, but I need to research the best materials to use..

I am going shopping for PEC fittings tomorrow,, going to re-do all the water lines in the house with plastic ..
going with larger diameter tubing for better water pressure .. I need that for when I am filling water jugs for the chickens, filling the kitchen sink, and for when I am watering the garden,,
I get impatient waiting for things to fill up....

I climbed up onto the roof yesterday and trimmed a few maple tree branches from in front of the satleite dish,, should get better reception for the pack game..
let me tell you, fallen leaves on a metal roof = slippery footing.. I have some more branches to cut, but I will do them from off of the ladder..

Be sure to pack light....that way I'll have room to stash a few extra cockerels.

I was going to ask you if I could drop off 5 or 6 extra boys by you.

Hmmmm......... maybe I'll have to drive by Frenchies place. She won't even notice a few extras. Whistle, whistle.

Thanks for the offer, Mel, but I've met up with Huntress before. She is pretty much on our way to our cottage & we are overdue to head up there anyway. I very much appreciate the offer, though!

Jim, you be darn careful on that roof. Get Kalib or one of those other GSs to go up there. And please keep those dogs tied up. That just broke my heart about Dora.

Staci, I wouldn't go down on your coop price either. An uninsulated shed with no windows & inadequate ventilation costs just as much. And that doesn't include the roosts, nestboxes, etc.

Kildare, you crack me up about your siamese story. We had a cat (tiger) that we swear had to be part siamese. He could be a mean bugger to other animals but was very loving to people. He howled at the top of his lungs at all hours of the night, though. And he loved to go in my shower to do it so he could hear the amplification. Mental midget........... Fuzzy bass turd lived to be 20 too.

Go Pack! We were in Bear country last night/this morning for a band gig of DHs. They are pretty amped up about the game too.

I hope we have a better experience with the sisters! They have the bathroom set up for a safe get away if needed. But they have chose to hang pit all day. Except when the vacuum was on! Hid under the couch :) they will need to get used to thT noise! With so many animals we do it every day!
