Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Cs, I must have missed your original post. I am sorry to hear ypur news.
Del, you need to break down and get the heated waterers. It is worth it! Go with the plastic like suggested on here. I bought the tall ones with the bunny money this year. At first we had a ceramic tile between the waterer and base. But the top of the tall ones was freezing. So we removed the tile and they are GREAT!
Irish, I will have some chicks. Pm if you like. Or get to me when you are ready

I slept a lot..
I have heard from Dr H.. .. we keep in touch,, he is very busy remodeling his house , room by room.. lots of drywalling and electrical ..

you can make a heated base out of a plastic 5 gal bucket and a light socket.. cheep cheep
I think I posted pictures a year ago. I can't find the pics right now..

..

well just got done sorting out the pupas from the mealworms and also the bettles...so now there is four containers...one for beetle two for mealworms and one for pupas....

Hi All!

Jim, glad your feeling better too.

I made about 7qt. of vegetable beef soup for supper and some rolls. I had maybe 1 1/4 cups of soup and a roll..... the guys finished off all the rest!

Boiled some eggs for egg salad then boiled up some old ones for the birds.
Hope I don't get too many frozen ones, going to try to make a nest box near the heated water dish, maybe they wont freeze there.

That's it.... night all!

Goodness, where is everyone?

Made three batches of strawberry jam today, the house smells wonderful! That little scent of summer during this arctic blast is a mood lifter! :) Keeps the house warm too!

Watching Cake Boss for inspiration.

Had to hook up a space heater by the dog door. When the big dog goes out he's heavy enough to go through the center so the flap falls back, but the little guy scoots around the side so there's not enough force to make the flap fall until he comes back inside. Since the washer and dryer happen to be right next to the dog door we have to make sure there's no chance of freezing.

I know it's just part of Wisconsin Winter, but I'm over it this week.

Still Winter Here Too! We have been using our frozen strawberries for daiquiri's for a nice winter treat...the blender is left on the counter, cause I have quite a few berries.....jam is good too, but we have wild grape and raspberry up the wing wam, and are good to go with jam and jelly.

Nice day to de-frost one of the freezers...placed everything on the outside deck and will allow the freezer to thaw this afternoon.....prolly leave everything on the deck til tomorrow. if you move stuff back in the freezer before in runs for 12 hours...one will get bleeding from the frozen foods.
One gonna be done and two to go...prolly leave the one in the garage til Spring.

The wild birds sure are going crazy for the feeders I provide...plenty of species variety here.

Keep the fire fired...bigz

..
sorry kid, I'm on break,,
I wish I had one of those strawberry drinks BigZ was talking about..

..
At meal time they come from all points of the globe..
there is a pie plate at the center of that quadrant ..

..
What ?? You mean you woke me up just to take my picture ???
I thought you were going to spring me from this prison..

puppies are 6 weeks old tomorrow,, they weigh in at 10 pounds..
they are eating solid food like crazy and still keep momma milked dry ..
it won't be long before she won't feed them anymore ..

Just plugged the freezer back in. I ended up with a full 5 gal pail of ice and water, and the freezer should be good for another year or two. Everything is staying froze on the deck outside and should be safe from critters in this cold weather. Prolly tackle number two tomorrow...this is perfect weather for a chore that needs to be done here.

Cute pups Jim...they should sell themselves being that cute.....I always pushed sales at their age....it's when everyone can't resist. I think it's the cuteness factor that sells.

Time for the news...bigz
missed a o in good...lol

Hi All!

Jim... cuteness factor on the pups..... +10!

Well, I felt bad for the roosters in the outside pen. The roost area is covered all but the east side, but I thought with the temps and wind chill I should let them in the coop, at least for a few days. Fixed a corner of the pen so they can go into the small area of the coop. Only 1 of them went in as of lockup. The others were on the outside roost. I was going to go chase the others in, but when I crawled into that area, it wasn't bad in there, just a little cooler than the coop, so I left them. Hope I don't have roostercicles.

Night All!
