So, communication wires were crossed.

CORRECTION:

My DD only shot ONE turkey. It is the second one she ever shot. I was under the impression she had shot two birds.

Ok, back to regular programming......

My brahma broody is having issues. Started with 5 eggs....down to 3. No shell bits. She is sharing coop with bcm & her 4 chicks.
More serious issue...She is having scratching fits ( 1st noticed this am ). Has scratched her head bloody. Have checked for mites...her & bcm & chicks.
No mites, or fleas. Layers coop is also clean ( check them weekly). At a loss. Close to hatch time...it has been close to 3 weeks since she has been able to dust bathe.....no idea.

Hi All!

Well, had an interesting day here.....As most of you know, I'm a "night person" so I get up about 1:30 and go past my son's room, no son, but a chicken is on the window shelf the cats sit on. So I went pee then went back in my room to take my pills, brush my hair and do a breathing treatment, figuring Neil will explain the chicken when he returns to his room. Well, I'm brushing my hair and I catch a glimpse of my 2nd son's dog in the kitchen. OK, he was going to come over and help with a few things. So, I finish my stuff and head for the kitchen. Glance outside and see smoke in the neighbor's horse pasture. Then I see 2nd son fill a 5 gal. bucket and heading to the field. OK, so I go out to the deck where Neil is watching his brother and I see the small, sweeping flames and the area involved. OH ****! The next door neighbors are out watching and having a fit. Adam (2nd son) is in the field trying to put out the area before the wooded wildlife area with a 5 gal. bucket of water and a wet piece of old tent. The neighbors who's field it is are just watching. I got 2 more buckets and filled them. Someone called the fire dept. Paul (DH) finally came home from his church thing shortly after they arrived. Oh yea, got to get the chicken out of Neil's room! Well, she is one of the "loft chickens " and not too friendly. I chased her around the house until she fallowed one of the cats into the bathroom and I could grab her. I guess in the frenzy son's dog chased her in the house where she just kinda wandered around. Not looking forward to what that bill is going to be.

Apparently, Adam came early and didn't have the kids along so decided to burn the weeds out of the garden and get it ready to till. That went well so he thought he would burn the weeds off of the compost pile so he could till that too. Compost pile is back along the fence line by the pasture. That didn't go so well. I also worry because after it was out I saw the next door neighbor walking across the street with the (back to his house) with the neighbor who is on the town board. Where my coop is is not quite to code. I'm not sure with the shape of our yard there is a place that is.

Good news is Adam did manage to put the new kitchen faucet in!

Well, that was my afternoon..... Night All!

Dang wet and chilly one today. Glad you got the fire out Cind...hope you don't get in trouble. I think there was a state wide fire ban going on.

Good job on the hatch Kris. You only need to figure the eggs going into lockdown....can't count the clears as part of the hatch, but consider the reason for them.

I just might start a fire to take the chill out later.

Cind, so glad you guys were ablem to get the fire out. Best wishes for whatever comes.
Kildare, maybe offer her a dust bath. When we have broodies they still come ojt every few days. Humongo poo, eat drink, yell at any roo thay tries to get near, and take a quick good dust bath. Try guving her a box with the good stuff right in the coop she is nesting in :)
