Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I won't make it to the bash this year. I have to go to Kewaunee in the middle of May to pick up our pug puppy and don't want to make 2 long drives in one month. I was hoping I could do both on the same weekend, but that's not going to happen.

Irish, they are beautiful! !!! I tried clicking on the images. But the phone will not cooperate and enlarge them. I see a lot of tails. That is a good sign for girlies

the ones without a tail and that have less neat looking feathers tend to be boys at that age in our lines.
the ones that have white are splash. The blues look almost gray at this age. And the black are just black and red

That's good to know! Thanks!! Just wish it wasn't so cold so I could keep them out in the chicken tractor for fresh air and sunshine!

Hi All!

Well, had an interesting day here.....As most of you know, I'm a "night person" so I get up about 1:30 and go past my son's room, no son, but a chicken is on the window shelf the cats sit on. So I went pee then went back in my room to take my pills, brush my hair and do a breathing treatment, figuring Neil will explain the chicken when he returns to his room. Well, I'm brushing my hair and I catch a glimpse of my 2nd son's dog in the kitchen. OK, he was going to come over and help with a few things. So, I finish my stuff and head for the kitchen. Glance outside and see smoke in the neighbor's horse pasture. Then I see 2nd son fill a 5 gal. bucket and heading to the field. OK, so I go out to the deck where Neil is watching his brother and I see the small, sweeping flames and the area involved. OH ****! The next door neighbors are out watching and having a fit. Adam (2nd son) is in the field trying to put out the area before the wooded wildlife area with a 5 gal. bucket of water and a wet piece of old tent. The neighbors who's field it is are just watching. I got 2 more buckets and filled them. Someone called the fire dept. Paul (DH) finally came home from his church thing shortly after they arrived. Oh yea, got to get the chicken out of Neil's room! Well, she is one of the "loft chickens " and not too friendly. I chased her around the house until she fallowed one of the cats into the bathroom and I could grab her. I guess in the frenzy son's dog chased her in the house where she just kinda wandered around. Not looking forward to what that bill is going to be.

Apparently, Adam came early and didn't have the kids along so decided to burn the weeds out of the garden and get it ready to till. That went well so he thought he would burn the weeds off of the compost pile so he could till that too. Compost pile is back along the fence line by the pasture. That didn't go so well. I also worry because after it was out I saw the next door neighbor walking across the street with the (back to his house) with the neighbor who is on the town board. Where my coop is is not quite to code. I'm not sure with the shape of our yard there is a place that is.

Good news is Adam did manage to put the new kitchen faucet in!

Well, that was my afternoon..... Night All!

YOW!! Glad the fire is out - just hope nothing bad comes of it from the neighbor!

Sitting at Taco Bell in I think Schofield??? On my way home from Madison. Doctor appointment this AM went well.
Horse fair was wonderful. Spent most of my time walking from One Arena to Th the exhibition hall for Pat Parelli and his free drawings for trips to his clinics. Didn't win :(
The show on Saturday night was great.
Drove to Evansville Sun night to get pair of Domoniques. Not getting the Australorp eggs this tdip. Seller cancelled. Said had to work out of town.
Guess ET has 14 eggs for me that hatched. Some this morning so I'm anxious to get home to see what they are and to see if any others are going to make it.
Later. On the road again !

I promised myself that I would not get any new breeds of chickens. Only LF orpingtons and bantam cochins. Well, now I have bantam chocolate orps in the incubator, with more in the mail AND I just ordered silver penciled wyandotte bantams. I couldn't resist! I love the silver penciled pattern on hens. I will stop now. NO MORE! I already have lemon cuckoo, cuckoo, white and columbian orpington chicks that i need to find a home for.

LOL Famous last words! "I will not get" is no longer in my vocabulary and I don't even want to see any new to me breeds.....or I would want them too! BBP what horse is that in your avatar?
Oh and ATTENTION HORSE PEOPLE. .go to www.parelliconnect.com for a FREE 90 days of Pat Parelli. Tons of videos and more. No credit card needed. Do you and your horse a favor and at least try it for 90 days. Trust me ! His methods have kept ET and I safe.i love his sense of humor. I could watch him all day.

Made it home safe and sound. Haven't checked the chicks yet. After Castle.

Thanks Bigz!

good late evening,

I just removed all the unhatched eggs from the hatcher.. there is one lone chick in there,, I will be dropping it off at his home on my way into town..

today was our last day of bowling,, I had one 251 game,, the other two games were much lower ..

this cold wet weather sure doesn't make me want to do anything in the shop..

I still have to take some pictures of the call ducks..
maybe tomorrow..

I am glad it rained.. I don't even care if it snows.. then it should be over and we shouldn't get frost on the apple blossoms.. I didn't get a single apple last year,,
after it clears up and dries up I will drag the gardens again,, and I will tidy up the yard.. it won't be long before I will have to drag the lawn mower out.. Annie said that the grass along the driveway needs cutting,, I don't think so,, but i know where she is coming from,, usually I don't get around to that area until the grass is knee high ..

I have a section of pine trees that I want to brush out this summer.. lots of dead branches..
this would be a good project for "before and after" pictures... I like to make all my tree branches just over head high so I can walk under them without bumping my head ..
can you say big brush pile fire boys and girls ??

can't tell if the goose is sitting or not.. I think they are just taking a long time to lay their daily eggs.. I think there are about 22 eggs in that nest from 2 geese..

I took a couple of hours nap after supper,, I was up by 4 AM today,, now I am not ready to go to bed, yet..

Hi All!

Thanks for the good wishes!

I think the turkey is broody. Don't really want her to hatch any with all that's going on. I feel bad for her though, she's tried for 2 years and nothing.

Nothing else new.... Night All!
