Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

it is happening again.. pictures are there, but NO graphics.. I usually have to shut down my puter and come back in to clear this up,, I am posting just to see what happens to this post..

ETA:

I had to shut down and come back in,, my post was a blank page also..

SC,, were those floor boards a floor in their first life ? or how did you get them all to be the same width ? are they 1 x 6 or 2 x 6 ?
I am a sucker for wooden floors.
do you realize how valuable that recycled floor is ? there are companies out there that recycle wood from old barns.. a person could finance a whole house for what they charge for that wood ..

you are doing an awesome job..

The inside of the walls. That way the insulation will not get wet.
No I did not. I guess I never give it a thought as there will be heat in here so should not build moisture on the walls.
Hi All!

Nice floor Stacy.

Not much here.

Night All!
Thanks as always Cindy!

Instead of using cooking oil on the floors, you might want to consider using Tung oil. We used it on our hardwood floors and could it be happier. No poly to scratch, and the wood looks amazing.

Stacy, I assume the lap is about 3/8 inches thick.. I know the budget is tight, but maybe you want to consider a floor sander if the edges don't match,, of course that might remove some of the marks that you might want to keep.. but it might lighten up those dark boards .. I am assuming that the darkness was from the tar paper leaching ..

If you are using wood for heat, the condensation on the walls would be minimal.. but if you are using fuel oil or propane or natural gas, the moisture might be higher..

in any case, if you can, put poly on the walls..

I will look around here,, I might have some you can have.. don't get your hopes up, though.. my place is such a mess and I am not even sure I have any ..

I agree about the oil,, cooking oil might get rancid..
and if you are considering that self leveling product, I wouldn't oil the floor at all..

these are just my opinions,,
seriously,, it is your project and you do what you want.

onward and forward ....

I rethought my idea about cooking oil this morning Jim and rancid was the first thing to come to mind. It's not awful unevel, just some gaps where they should of butted were warped. I have a industrial sander here I could do the floor in no time but not sure I want to loose the rustic look it has. So many decisions I tel ya. For not it stays the way it is. Won't hurt to wait until I come up with clear decision on it.
Got over half of Anellias room walls done so far today but too much rain to keep my chop saw going to just taking a break and enjoying the peace right now.

I agree, there is no rush to mess with the floor.. there are plenty of other things to do, eh?

I worked outside cleaning up some of the yard for awhile.. got another section cleaned up..
all that is left is the mess right in front of the garage.. mostly putting things inside the garage that shouldn't be left outside and putting other things under the lean to ..
then when it is time to push snow around, I will have no obstacles to dodge around..

today I even stuck the flexible sump pump hose inside a 20 foot long 4" pvc tube.. now it is sloped for 20 feet and shouldn't have any low spots where water can collect and freeze..

I spread a couple of bales of straw around the septic tank man hole.. it sticks above the ground about 2 feet.. not always, but in some winters the water in the septic tank freezes near the man hole.. I don't want it to crack the septic tank..

I back dragged the small garden again,, got it bare enough to rototill when I want to..

I don't think I will plant potatoes again, unless I can figure out a digger other than a hand fork..
I hate to see Annie work that hard..

I think one of the hens is finally showing signs of wanting to lay an egg.. will have to watch her closely so she doesn't hide them,,..

Fish Fry Friday almost...gonna have a big batch of tuna salad on buns with lettuce for a change. Suzie makes some awesome tuna salad.

Caught a feral pig on my trail cam....that would be fun to harvest and eat...nice lean pig by the looks of the pic.

Your place looks great Stacy...love the floors....mine need redone....love the idea.

Pack has a bye this weekend...haveta watch some other teams play.

Stay Safe...bigz

Wow big z where are you located that there are feral pigs? Sometimes I think there may be some by my grandparents' place they have 60+ acres near brodhead WI and I lived with them for over two years with my mom helping to take care of them as my Grandpa has Alzheimer's and my grandma has some "mild" or not so mild dementia. Anyway I swear I used to hear pigs screaming in the night up on the hill. Idk our neighbors apparently found bear poo in their woods. I also know I heard coyotes of course but bobcats too. We also had eagles, and vultures too. We also have a humongous hole in our shed that goes under a building next to it that is more than probably three feet in diameter. I never stand too close to that hole for long. Would love to know what's in it and evict the animal and take back that shed, but I think it's a badger based on the claw marks and I am not taking on a badger. We also saw a swamp rattler in a different shed a couple years ago now when our other neighbor decided to put drainage tiles in and try to drain the creek bottom so he could plant it. It was all natural before that, beautiful area. I'm sure they disturbed the rattler and it moved to our shed temporarily where it was quieter and there were plenty of rodents. Since plowing all that land they have gotten stuck at least twice every spring and every fall. It also ends up flooded frequently and drowns the plants. Think maybe there was a reason it had never been worked?
