Wow Staci, did you ever get a great haul there. I love enamelware. That frig is pretty cool too. I hope you heal up fast.

The Asian beetles & box elders are both crazy down here too Brent. The Japanese beetles weren't too terrible this year for once. Most of the trees actually kept their leaves all season.

Irish, DHs aunt always made soup with the feet. I never tried it but SIL said it was good. Personally, I see what they step in so I sure as heck ain't gonna make soup outta them, I don't care how clean they are.

As for helping with the feed bill in winter, you might want to invest in a lawn sweeper. DH bought one, and every time he mows, he will go collect some clippings & toss them into the run. The chickens go crazy every time. He also goes & collects clippings after a few days when it is dried out and we toss them into the coop for bedding. When we had our bunnies, I would rake up dried grass into garbage bags to store over winter & toss them a few armfuls each week. They loved it. Helped keep them from getting bored too. Ours liked chewing on fruit tree branches too.
I never was inclined to try chicken foot soup either..
but I imagine it would be handy to have soup with tooth picks included..

please don't call them asian lady bugs.. lady bugs are harmless and beneficial ..
Asian beetles are an invasive pest
You should see what they did to one of my friend's pear tree..

............jiminwisc...........
I was thinking the same thing Jim. "Asian Invasion" My ex fil was best friends w a DNR worker and told him they brought here to kill the Emerald Ash Borer. Then in 2002 or 03 they brought in huge flies to kill their larvae and bees after or may have that reversed. Always messing with nature, can't leave well enough alone.

Worked on the floor in the kitchen and living room yesterday until I had to run to Eau Claire to pick up fridge and found a cl ad for lumber. Will work on finishing living room floor today.

Stacy I do have a quick question; is there a reason you are not putting up a vapor barrier? I believe you are going to have moisture issues with the tin against the insulation....... I would hate for you to do all that work and end up with nasty molds growing in the walls.

BTW I have enjoyed watching the entire build.

Another Asian beetle day here...Suzie is jealous of your enamel ware find Stacy.

Nothing new here otherwise.....think I lost another adult hen to predators...dang!

Have fun... bigz

Hi,

I did a little yard clean up.. pushed the big brush pile back to the burn pile with Ollie.. made it all in one trip that way, instead of carrying five or six small loads.. I did lose a few pieces along the way, but one pick-up trip should take care of those..

I dragged the old trailer out of the weeds.. It is not in as bad of shape as I thought it was..
One tire needs air..

I will post pictures of it, soon..

You mean on the ceiling? I have plastic down and wrap on the walls but not on the inside walls. Upstairs I have wrap partially done, just haven't finished up there yet.

Tell Suzie, I'm jealous of myself. I can't believe it. I also realized I had some out in the barn and strung around so found another larger wash pan, pitcher and coffee cup so far. If I look harder I might have a few more pieces I forgot I had.
