Happy harvest day to all....I'm a couple pages behind reading, but want to post a couple pics of the 3 amigos we bagged today!

I shot the one on the left and my neighbor shot the one on the right. It was a group of bucks chasing a hot doe...he bagged his and then the group came to me and I bagged mine. It was brutal cold hunting all day,,,we shot these at 2 and 2:30.

This one my son shot at 4:30 this afternoon. Two other neighbors shot at him but missed...my son was a happy hunter for sure!

Stay Safe.....try to catch up later....bigz

for the nice bucks..

Thanks Jim, and congrats on the doe Dae.... We will be out there in the morning lookin for more!

Yep, I have some scrap to get rid of too Jim. Even though the price is down right now, it's nice to get rid of.

I use straw bales for the brahmas to roost on....they like the space and warmth under them...then when they need replaced it is used for bedding in the coops.

Great info huntress....I use a Rat trap baited with meat and tacked in the vertical position on the corner of the building with the bait part about 4" off the ground....other methods are good too! Good Luck Terri, you have had your share of losses for sure!

Time for the Lazyboy....bigz

Well, I got one and somehow have 3 to butcher. I may end up with more yet. Seems I could hang out a shingle as a butcher. Ah well, it's what I do for people. You'd think a girl would learn to not open her mouth.

Hi All!

Congrats on all the good hunting! 2nd son hasn't posted one yet but said someone in the group got one.

DH had to leave for work at 3:30 a.m. Sat so couldn't shovel the back for me. My COPD was acting up so I couldn't do it. I tromped out there at about 1:30 a.m. before the snow got too heavy and gave them extra food and water. I'm worried they didn't get enough water. I haven't been out there since.

These were when the dog and I came back in. We got 8-10 inches.

Night All!

[/quot. Atleast you got one though! I always cut a pile of deer(between home and the
Meat market ) usually without one of
My own. Talk about a slap

good morning,
I always cut up my own deer. I just never trusted the meat markets to give me my own meat back.. and besides, I clean the bones off much more to my stringent specifications..

my sil will not allow her family to cut deer any more.. it is a power thing with her,, my nephew built over head trolleys and an electric winch to pull the hides off.. she said it was too messy, WTH? she never had to clean up the mess.. she is like the dog in the manger .. I cannot imagine what it costs to have 4 deer processed .. so much for "free meat" eh?

It is a good thing I am such a procrastenator .. I came up with an alternate plan for routing the new water llines,, will make it much easier and quicker to install..

and I am seriously thinking of moving the laundry up into the small computer room.. GS has his computer set up in there, but he will have to relocate .. It is too rough on gramma Annie to haul laundry up and down the stairs anymore..

I will give him a choice,, if he hauls the laundry up and down the stairs, and never misses,, even once,, I will keep things as is.
I am going to rough in the lines anyway, because I already know the answer to the above ..

winter is officially here,, once we start hauling water instead of using the hose..

we did some cleaning in the garage yesterday,, soon I will be able to get Ollie in there.. where does all this stuff come from ?
and where does a guy put it now ?

I agree with wondering if you get your own meat back. My aunt had hers processed years ago and got back 2 hearts. We can a lot of our meat and I like to make my own jerky. Plus, our shepherd gets the bones when I am done. He doesn't get much more than bones, but he loves 'em and his teeth are pearly white. I clean most of the meat off of the ribs and give the rib cage to the chickens. I guess my motto is share the bounty. Hopefully I will get the buck tag filled yet.
