Try to figure out how to pm
You.

Anyone else, I'm still looking for all the options

Ok, I got one message just to see if I got the first one (which I didn't). I tried to respond back and type "I didn't" and it autocorrected to "I funny". Then I hit delete and deleted the whole conversation. Internet on my phone isn't fun. Lol

I have tiny ant hills in my garden......anything to be concerned about?
you need some guineas..

in the meantime, don't sit on them ..

.

I used to have ant hills all over the place until I got the guineas.

I don't think they will harm anything in the garden ..
but I don't know for sure..

I spread one bale of straw in amongst the tomato plants. I still have the other half to do. might take 2 bales to finish off the whole job.

I also went after hilling the potatoes with the tiller, and used a hoe to bring the dirt up against the stems. I did all 7 rows.. and now I don't have to do any more with the potatoes .. Annie will take care of the bugs..

Got my garden mostly under control. The berries are finally slacking off. We got a ton this year!!! Now to revamp the strawberry beds. Went out and trimmed the trees up this afternoon. I hate hitting branches when I mow. My silkie hen has 2 eggs under her from my banty barred rock. I have 3 apple trees to get planted this afternoon or tomorrow. Cutting down the McIntosh as it was planted in a bad spot. Putting in a Granny Smith, a second Cortland and a Honey Crisp. Going to do a major water on the garden this evening. Radish harvest number 2 is in full swing. Cukes are starting to produce. I took the fence around behind the cukes and pumpkins yesterday so that they can crawl into the yard. We had our first batch of buttered beets last night with venison roast, potatoes and carrots in the pressure cooker. YUM. If anyone needs dill weed or tops let me know. My dill row is 2' wide and 15' long. Also I finally got the second row of tomatoes done and they are starting to produce already. They are very bushy but not very tall yet. Well, time to get back into the heat.

I have been running my daughter to the doc's this week.  She is 9 and complaining of back pain so they did xrays, exam and mri.  Haven't heard the results yet.  Then there is the constant strep throat issue so next week she gets her tonsils out.  My poor garden and berries are being neglected.  I finally got the second row of tomatoes tied up last night and today I am going to do my best to get the tilling done.  Also have to pick the berries before they rot on the vine.  Going to be a busy one.  Got all the salmon and trout from this past weekend frozen in bags of water.  Once the hubby gets the smoker fixed I can get it out and make it yummier.
I go thru withdrawals when my smoker is down. What's wrong with it? How do you make your smoked salmon?

I made a homemade one out of a fridge. Last fall the bottom rusted out of it. Need the hubby to fix it for me or make another one. I brine it overnight, rinse add my own marinade and smoke till done.

When I smoke salmon it's about 9 hours start to finish. I take the skin off the fillet and cut it into 2-3" wide strips. One cup brown sugar to 1/3 cup canning salt. Mix the sugar and salt good. Tumble the salmon pieces in a ice cream pale with the mixture and leave it sit for 4 hours. Rinse it, air dry for a hour, then smoke for about 4 hours.

Annie baked salmon for supper last night,,
Our nephew lives just 3 houses off of Lake Michigan.
He is always giving away salmon to relatives.
too bad he has so many relatives, because it makes our turn farther in between

I just put 60 of Jordan's eggs into the incubator.

I will have to ask him what kind of chickens he has.

these eggs barely fit into the egg holders. .

Fish Fry Friday to everyone....we had a nice cookout once again. Then during our break after supper, enjoying a ice cream sandwich...the alarms went off...I grabbed the loaded gun on the way out but....to late....a fox had one of my hens and was already back off the freshly cut lawn and in the woods off the lawn, she grabbed it a mere 40 feet from the back sliding door...dang...my fault for not keeping guard, but with garden and lawn work all day here today, I thought the vermin would be off elsewhere...bad guess on my part....now the flocks are on lockdown.

I chose to have my house in the woods...bad for free ranging flocks though. Fencing is pricey, and I'm not sure what I'm going to do down the road. The woods gets bigger and the lawn smaller...perfect for the predator. I may take up trapping again to even some odds....

Morning all, fish fry last night means sleep in today I think. That or the hubby is just avoiding the rototiller and shed project for as long as he can. I may go fire up the mower to "encourage" him to get out of bed... Can't believe he can sleep through the extra kids we have this morning. House already full of noise.
Ribs going in the pit barrel smoker later and I plan on mowing and spraying today. Should have plenty of time to set up on the plants before the rain comes tonight I think. Seems to me it only takes an hour. If I spray and then cover the quack with grass from the lawn, will that stop the chemical from being absorbed because the sun is not getting to it? Hmmmm
I think this may be the last great quack battle. Too many rocks in the dirt for me to run the big tiller, not enough time or energy for me to dig by hand. Maybe those raised beds won't be such a bad idea after all. Steve got a rolling tarp system at Harbor Freight for the rock he had loaded into the truck. Turn a crank and it came sliding off the tailgate slick as snot. Thinking that would make filling a bed with dirt pretty simple too...
