Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

This was about our fifth visit to Colorado, and we have seen all those places you listed (which we loved). This visit we went to the Black Canyon of Gunnison National Park, the Great Sands Dunes National Park and Preserve, Zapata Falls, and Castlewood Canyon State Park. The rest of the time was spent visiting family out there. We did bring back two boxes of Palisades peaches. Boy are they yummy!!

Finally got the tomatoes picked in the garden. Most of them are on the stove. I'll make tomato juice out of most of these. Corn is ready to eat, and the green beans got ahead of me.

My tomatoes were attacked by hornworms and they got away from me...few tomatoes still hanging on but the branches are bare... sigh... need to get all my gardens under control! Will have time when kids are back in school. Now to get through some birthday parties and back to school shopping and my sanity might be a little better! Need to downsize a few chickens as my little one math this summer got away from me. 6- 4-5 months old ( still waiting for eggs), 2 I gave to a broody and then 4 more because a friend was ordering and I wanted to see the quality of some of the breeds I am interested in working with... sigh...those are my littles alone... typically what I go into the winter with is about 12-15... need to look at a few things here.. Still trying to rehome the OEGB bantam pair... love these little guys but get frostbite to the comb every winter and want to get away from bantams if I can. Keeping 2 (If I can rehome the pair) that can live in the garage for the coldest part of winter if needed.

Afternoon all....that's 1 1/2 bushel dae. 5 gal pail filled above the rim is a 1/2 bushel.....I don't use a pail because the bottom maters will get squished from all the weight on top, if they are ripe when picked. I prefer strong wide baskets that distribute the weight more.

Hope it's just internet problems Jim. We worry you know!

Stay cool... bigz

Well, we turned 50 cups of tomatoes into spaghetti sauce today and still have a table full. Will do another batch tomorrow probably and a batch of salsa with less heat to it. Also made 2 batches of fridge pickles today. Juiced some of my super hot salsa into taco sauce (I'm picky and don't like chunks). Chickens are loving the scraps!

Still in Pennsylvania on vacation and getting texts from the neighbors with egg counts every other day or so. The larger Buff layed her first egg a couple days before we left town. They have little kids, so a couple eggs is an omelet to share in that house.

No Jim is strange...
