Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Yep, we have one of those strong box springs in the spare room. it sleeps well, and a new mattress in in order to keep it going, but they never wear out, unless you use them for a drag!

good sunday afternoon,

this morning I took Ollie and gave the grass plot a going over once more. got 99% of the weeds pushed to the ditch.
then I dumped some grass seed into the hopper on the spreader. made a few passes and couldn't tell if it was working or not.
My hip was hurting so much by then I had to come up with a better plan. went and got the rider mower... Put the sack of feed on the left foot rest and drove back and forth. scattered the seed by hand. the wind was blowing nicely so I just tossed it up in the air and let the wind take it.
I don't know how good of coverage I got, but I am satisfied.
used up about half bag of seed, so I know there are lots of seeds on the ground.
It is supposed to rain for the next 3 days for starters. that will give me time to stretch some more hoses if I need to.

after the seeding we went to Brian's memorial gathering.
hundreds of people were there. No religious services, just a bunch of people who knew Brian getting together and talking..
had a great pot-luck meal and came home and took a nap.

That speaks volumes with that many folks thinking of him Jim. Like I said before, he was a good guy, and I liked him...may he rest in peace.

Yes he was a good guy,, even his X-wife showed up, and they had a nasT divorce..

I had a thought while I was there..
One person in that group of people will be the next to die.
think about that at your next funeral..
then look around and try to guess who it will be..

good morning,
nothing planned for today.
going to just have a day off.
praying for rain.

Looks like your prayers are going to be answered, Jim. We need to mow the jungle, wish we would have had time yesterday to mow it super short. Rain makes that not quite so shocky on the lawn. Oh well.
Chicken killin day, oldest was dropped off at college yesterday very happy to miss it. With both families having one less kid, will be interesting to see how many we are doing today. Don't think I will need quite so many this year. It will be a large adjustment in my cooking not having a 6 foot 18 year old boy at the table. Imagine we may have a leftover heavy week until I get the hang of it. Good thing hubby is not picky about his lunches.

Long day yesterday taking in the Rock River Thresheree. A long drive but I'm addicted to old machinery.

If I'd known there was a calliope I'd have skipped it. I'd rather hear a steam engine than a calliope any day.

Trying to sell most of my flock. I just have too many chickens. With the pigs, the cattle (added 6 more calves recently), the horses, dogs, ducks, it's too much. My husband is hunting in Colorado and I'm working full time and going out of town soon. It's just a lot. I feel sorry for the people I asked to take care of them when I'm gone. I will be relocating my little masked friends before then. It's a race to get everyone locked up at night before the little hunting switch goes of in their heads. They woke me up at 3 this morning because they were hungry. Crying and trying to open the front door. They would have gotten it if it hadn't have been locked. I could hear the button clicking. That's what woke me up.
