Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Happy New Year.

Cory, Annie dug out her pressure cooker and a whole stack of rib recipes.

Tomorrow is Kalib's birthday and he loves bbq ribs.

I boil the venison ribs for awhile to make the fat let go.
then I mix up my own recipe of bbq sauce and mix the whole mess up and bake it in the oven in a cast iron pot.
the whole process takes about 2 hours.

I am going to do them in the pressure cooker this time, .

we have some baby backs in the freezer. those are for a later date.

your rub sounds yummy, I think I will try that on the baby backs.

unless Annie has other plans, today I will be putting the apple scions into the potting soil.

Frankie has 5 puppies. they will be 3 weeks old on Wednesday.. their eyes are open, but they haven't figured out how to make their hind legs follow their front legs , yet. they still manage to find the dinner table, though.
they are all nice and fat.

back again,

I got all the scions in the potting soil.

then I made some awesome omelets for breakfast.

after staying out late, and getting up early, I am ready for a nap.

I was informed that I am cooking the ribs tomorrow.

Used the pressure cooker yet again tonite. Broccoli and beef....pretty friggin awesome. Best gift ever hands down. I'll stop talking about it now!

it is awesome when you get a gift that you really like and appreciate.

I boiled the venison ribs last night,
today I will prepare the BBQ sauce and bake them.
I am going to do them in the oven like I always did.

I am not familiar with the pressure cooker and I don't want to mess them up..

enjoy today, it is going to the freezer for the next few days..

the Packers went !!!

the Packers won, Badgers won, life is good..

We had BBQ venison ribs for supper.
Fall off the bone and delicious.

Next time I will try the pressure cooker.

Once , way back when I was a little kid.
My Mom loaned her pressure cooker to two young couples who lived across the street from us.
they made a batch of chop suey in it.
somehow, they managed to get the cover off before all the pressure was gone.
as a result, the inrushing air and the pressure rushing out, blew most of the chop suey all over the kitchen ceiling and walls.
instead of eating, they washed the whole kitchen..

I took Ollie for a short ride. we moved the Honda, so I could plow where it was parked.
It was snowing real hard at that time.

Yumm, ribs!! DH makes some pretty delish ribs in the smoker - I created a BBQ sauce recipe to go with those ribs. Kinda a combination of three different recipes, but it is really good. We had deep-dish Chicago Style pizza for supper tonight, we will have to have it again this week 'cause the recipe makes way too much crust.

Just had the last of the Tom & Jerry Mix, it was so good! Can't believe I had that recipe in the recipe box for 20+ years and never tried it before.
HAPPY NEW YEAR to everybody!

good snowy slippery morning.

I am wondering where I can get some asparagus seeds at this time of year.

my elderberries are just about ready for transplanting.

I also have a few grapes that are budding out.

this is the first year in a long time that I did not have a Tom&Jerry.

Sorry I have been delinquent for a few weeks.. kids were off school and we did some traveling around WI for family visits and helping mom with projects.
Having problems with my heated water bowls this year... Hubs thinks the warmer weather had some moisture get into the extension cords out to the coop...never happened before. I really dislike the cold! Chickens are doing ok... not laying great, but doing ok. 1-4 eggs a day from 13 girls... its winter...

Acquired some hatching eggs for dd to start 4h from a 4h kid near Milwaukee. She was so excited... She told me she wanted to start with bantams and I said anything not white! She would love silkies but they are tough to keep clean..may need to find her one anyway! So after a week we candled and eggs were all dud except 2/3. So guy was kind enough to get us another dozen... but now they are a week apart. Not sure how to work with that with the one incubator ( Brinsea 20)...any tips?
Having a tough time keeping humidity regulated... we usually hatch in a little warmer weather, but the house is dry and sucks the moisture quick.

Anyone going to have any cool hatching eggs... for eggs/dual purpose or cool bantams? Just incase this hatch bombs too...want to have some other birds ready to hatch. She really wants bantams for her first time and I don't want a white bird!!)
Fingers crossed that some of these hatch! The first batch was very porous... Would like at least 6 to start the process.
