Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Welcome to the cheeseheads Noelle. Yep you are right with the bad ratio...the poor pullets will start to get abused after a while, but the fights between the cockerels will start in another month or two...in my opinion. Good luck with a meet and greet...quite a few folks down your way.

Do you think the fighting willl be at a manageable level if I place my pullets somewhere else off site? And where are you located? Not in my area I take it?

Yep and yep... Roosters far enough away from the hens, so they actually can't see them will work and they should get along, in my opinion, they will create their own pecking order without the desire for the hens....I'm North by Clintonville.

Hi new guys and gals,
Celtic Chick has a "bachelor pad" for her roosters. it seems like it works for her.
she can chime in on that subject.
raising chickens is like falling off of a bike.
if you fall, then get back on and fall again.
and so on and on it goes..
I don't have any birds at all. I got rid of all of them last fall so I wouldn't have to baby sit them all winter. I liked it so much I did not replace them this spring..
I am much older than 43 ..
I think you might have more fighting among your Toms.are those red bourbon?
I had Royal Palms.
the way to curtail your roosters from fighting is to buy about 40 hens..
problem solved..

What the heck Cher, you rubbing in my failed bean crop? My second planting is starting to sprout already....maybe I'll be picking beans in Sept this year. That picking you have would be perfect for Ham and beans.... enjoy!

I have a question, of my 3 bared rocks one is getting feathers that are a little lighter in color than the other two. They will be 4 weeks old on Wednesday, also has little bumps on the back of it's legs. Do I have a little rooster probably?
