All good here the weather helped get my hens to get along, still a little ruckus now and again but for the most part doing well

yup, zeke is with a herd of sheep just north of Rochester , Minn. zomboro ? I am anxiously waiting for a call about how he is doing..
I have one batch of plum jelly done, 4 more to go. this first batch is just a tad runny.
and no matter what I do, I cannot find a recipe on how much pomona pectin to use.
all the recipes say, "add the pectin"
HOW F in much ????? they don't say.

@jvls1942 Isn't it usually a pack of liquid pectin? The stuff I bought came in 4 foil packs and my recipe for black forest jam calls for 2 packs of liquid pectin.

Luckily we were north of all the big events. We got a total of - drum-roll please - 4.6 inches of rain in the last 2 days. Windy, but not enough to take down anything but leaves and small branches. Still have apples in the tree.

We buy the pectin at the Amish store in bulk. It's about 1/10 the cost of pectin in the packages....while we use to buy the package stuff, we simply follow the amounts they recommend. From the ball canning book, for plumb jelly, it's 5 1/2 cups of juice, 7 1/2 cups of sugar, and 3 oz of pectin. Don't shoot the messenger. just sayin...sweetiepie.

thanks for the pectin tips..
I already had the Pomona pectin powder.
the instructions are printed so tiny I couldn't read them with a magnifying glass.
Annie helped me out and I winged it from there.
ended up with 14 & 1/2 pints of either jelly or syrup.. LOL
I told Annie that these rain storms are caused by church goers.. they have a little drought , then thousands of them pray for rain. their prayers are answered .. they should designate just a few people to pray at once. then the rain would come in a more moderate amount..

@bigzio Do you buy liquid and powdered pectin at the amish? and is there a difference between the two?
I can get powdered at the local Mennonite store, but they do not have the liquid. One of my recipes calls for liquid pectin.

@jvls1942 I hate how small the text is getting on labels. I have resorted to taking a photo with my camera, then zooming in with the touch screen until I can read it.
DH keeps "borrowing" my cheaters because he broke both the pairs I bought him. I bought orange frame's for myself so he wouldn't "borrow" them and take them to work, I am taking advantage of his vanity and it is working. As a side affect, I can usually find the orange frames amid all the junk, lol. I offered to buy him new cheaters, but he wants "better quality" than the ones I buy - so he can buy his own.
