Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hey all--how's everyone surviving? Everything feels go-go-go. We had a snow day yesterday--I couldn't make it into 'real' work but of course I spent all day on the computer working on farm stuff. Overall I'm enjoying myself but I wouldn't mind an afternoon off.

FANTASTIC hive BL4! Congrats :)

Lots of white stuff all around, but the cold isn't bad and it's sure pretty. Beats negative 28 any day. The outdoor chickens gave me the middle wing finger when I opened the coop door this am. They said they are perfectly fine eating snow, rather than hopping out 2 feet to the water, thank you very much.

The month old chicks are growing fast. Going to have to put up a larger brooder area for them in the basement this weekend. A little barred rock pullet is my buddy. I open the brooder to care for them and she hops up on the side and waits to be picked up and carried around while I tend to chores.

Tonight, she was quite the little ham. She yawned, so I mocked her. This started a yawning fight. I would fake yawn at her and she'd fake yawn back, all exaggerated and looking like an opera singer. Little stinker. She was quite proud of her new trick.

:weeNew hive arrived today! I’ll have to put my own stamp on it so it is distinctive for the bees.

I have been down with a cold since Monday night..... first illness all winter. May it be the last one as well!

Wow! Nice hive!

We had our grandson over today. That little 18 month old sure tires me out, but I love him to death. Thank heaven for nap time!

Happy Valentines Day!

Chilly FFF here today with the wind!
It's the Garfield Farms in Campton Hills Il bl4.
In may they have a special event for all the critical and rare breeds of livestock and poultry. It's on my bucket list to make the event one of these years.

That is the one; thank you! May 19th is the date for this year. :thumbsup

I made it to work today, and was happy to go home...... sucks being sick, I get so worn out. Looking forward to a quiet weekend.

I’ve been looking a shed plans; I think I found the one I want for the coop. A lean-to style that is elevated. Looks easy enough to build (but I am sure my neighbors will be over to help).
