Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Windy Afternoon All...Enjoy that long tall cold one Doc, and go ahead and wash er down with another...Ahhhh that's better.
It won't be long now til you're countin heads!
I ordered a Brinsea Octagon 20 Advance. I was suprised to see that it was on sale on line for the same price as the eco model. Don't know how soon I'll use it, just wanted to be prepared for when I might need it.

Suzie made 4 chicken aprons for some of the favorite women. They got use to them right away. I was suprised. I thought they would freak a little...no problem at all.

Nothing like getting the coop done in time for the newbies. Good job Dave. Now I can stop by and see you, Jim and Terri all in one stop!

I would ask a restaurant owner those questions.. I don't think there is much of a problem with produce.. I do know a restaurant cannot use untested eggs. I don't think there is a problem selling at a flea market, either..

I sell my eggs off the farm (when I can get customers) and have no license for it.

Did I write that? If there are restrictions I dont know about them. I do know that at the market in town you just have to pay the table fee and then can sell whatever you want...but NOT live animals! Tried that...my booth was the busiest but I was asked to leave....and all I had were bunnies and goslings! The guy in charge said that if he let me sell then he would have to let folks come in with calves and pigs!

C'mom DrH...waiting for the head count! Get with the program!
I got a surprise today while I was cleaning out inside birdies....I found this:

Apparently my couternix quail Percy in NOT a boy! So SW I guess I will be taking a few of the roos off your hands! Sure made me chuckle! Maybe I better clean more often!

I have plenty boys - come get them before Will eats them!

I'm not having ANY luck with heat these past few days...first two heat lamps burn out at once, and today I noticed that it's much chillier than usual in the basement. So, Will says, "Yeah, I turned the heat off because it was really warm down here". Which is okay...except it went from being warm to downright cold! And the incubators are down here! Checked the 'bator temp this afternoon and it was only 96.7 degrees in there - with around a dozen cute and cuddly Call duck eggs at stake!

I upped the temp (have to go check it in about an hour and see how high I brought it up), and candled the eggs quick. Everyone was alive and kicking EXCEPT for 2 Call eggs that were due to hatch May 2nd. They were one day short of being halfway through incubation - when I candled, it's obvious that they didn't make it, but I can make out little heads with disproportionately large eyes and little feet. It hurts when you lose them that far along - when they already look like recognizable little ducky babies.

But, I'm 3 for 3 as far as Call duck eggs that have gone into the hatcher. The third duckling of the year hatched overnight last night all on it's own!

It's a Blue Bibbed with a nice, clean, crisp bib on its chest that doesn't "leak" up onto the face or head at all.

It's in the brooder getting used to the older siblings right now, I'll get some pictures tomorrow, once everyone's settled down!

Whoo hooo for that baby! Bad Bad Will!!!! And you even went against Jim's advice to NEVER turn the bator UP! MAN, now you are in trouble girl! You better change more than just your name when you show up at the bash! LOL--Terri O

evening all, Hope all is going well. Just finished putting on coat 2 on the coop. It looks better but probably could use another coat, we shall see. Got the temp over 100 in there, had the vents blocked up but the paint is drying fast. I had to run to WI Rapids to help a friend out, stopped at TSC, was tempted with the new chicks, It was a straight run and I can wait. Ended up getting some electrolytes for the water and 2 little feeder bottles for the chicks. Not sure how much work I will get done next weekend due to Easter but the inside of the coop will be set up by this coming weekend so the outside can wait it it has 2. Waiting to hear from Dr. HaHa

lol better tell Will not to turn the heat on again, cause this time you will cook the birds instead of cooling them down.

I finally found a car for me, AND if need be, I can stuff the 5 kids in there (it's got 6 seat belts).

BigZ, I had 1 EE with crooked neck last summer I think it was, IDK which one any more, it developed it at about 1 year or so. I do believe this chick with it is Silkie/EE so could have been her chick, But I don't have a silkie that has showen any signs of this problem. so IDK, DH is THINKING of culling it, but he's never got a round to it! oh wait he was the one that got one, it was me that never got one. lol our pastor handed everyone a round peice of paper that said to-it .... lol I was in the class room teaching and never got one lol.

I love going to my parents house and getting crap about the movies that I DON'T watch?! called a wus cause I DON'T and WILL never watch scary movies. or certain other movies that I don't think are appropraite for MY kids.

later gotta spend time with the fam

Gorgeous (albeit blustery) day out. Had the boys out to blow the stink off them (as Grandma Alice would say) and they had fun, though poor Tyler looked like he needed a V8, leaning against the wind.

Got 95 snake hatchling ID photos taken, 60% through cropping them for registry...oy, will be glad when I'm done. That's a lot of snake posing in one day, but I've got people really wanting some hatchlings (I hatch out earlier than most) so best to supply while the demand is there. Gotta get the majority of them shipped out tomorrow.

OK, back to the snake mines. Chickies are out tilling my flowerbed for me.
