as for eggs off the farm, the reg's are tight, and you need a license, but for quail eggs you can nock on the back door of a restaurant and they can buy

LOL yeah I wanted bright and warm feeling, especially for the winter. Thing It will go great with Jim's purple shag carpet.

Oh General question 2x4 perches with rounded edges ok, I read in colder climates people use them because the chickens sit on their feet to keep them warm.? Any thoughts

where do you people live? chickens tillling the garden? our ground had an inch of the frozen stuff on it until about 4 this afternoon.. the water hose was frozen until noon...

Dave, 2x4 are ok.. stand them up edgewise and they will not sag. for long spans I use 2x6.. but you will be ok with less than an 8 ft span.. I nail joist hangars onto the wall and just drop the 2x4 into them.. then to clean the coop, just lift the roosts out of the way.. for that many chickens, you should be able to get by with just one roost.. you can always add more.. keep the roost about 3 ft from the floor.. some heavy breeds can hurt their legs jumping down from high perches.. they won't use the roosts anyway..if you build egg nests in there, they will sleep and poop in or on them..

I had a turkey pip this morning. no further headway than that up to now..

goofy incubators,,,, the temp went down to 97 on the middle one and up to 100 an the left one and the right one stayed at 99.
go figure..

when I was in highschool, I helped a neighbor just across the street and 4 houses down, paint his house a bright yellow.. It could be the grayest morning outside, but it always looked like the sun was rising on his house..LOL,

BCC great turkey! I never realized how large they really were until one day driving home 2 were standing in the middle of the road and I had to wait for them to decide to move along. Nice pic.

That's a really intense yellow Dave, will be quite cheerful during the winter! I thought the gorilla might be some kind of optical illusion from something in the background of the photo... either that or bigfoot hangs out at your place and found your project interesting.

Was hoping to hear from DrH...hope things are going well!
