Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Just a question..... Anyone got any silver spitzhaubens? I really need to get some new bloodlines in my flock. Would be willing to trade... Chicks, roo, or eggs?.... Thanks

Well, I don't have geese anymore.

Drove my Sebbies down to a farm in Sun Prairie today - they have a program for disabled children (they do horseback riding therapy and that sort of thing), and wanted the fluffy, windswept geese for something neat for the kids to look at. I couldn't have asked for a better home for them to go to, they're going to be SO much happier there, but I'm going to miss Barney, Eugene, Edie, and Lucy.

I'm trying not to name all the new Call ducklings this spring because I know I'm only going to keep a couple of them, and it's going to be twice as hard to let the rest of them go if I start giving them names!

Called my sisters today to talk to them and the 12-year-old picked up the phone crying. She's starting band class and wants to play the trumpet, so my mom went out and bought her a beautiful trumpet. Went to the first band meeting tonight after school and the teacher tells her she can't use her trumpet because "that brand has too many problems with the valves". Instead, they want her to pay $30 a month for the next 2 years to rent a trumpet.

Anyways, we have a house showing tomorrow and I should go clean out the garage. I've been waiting for it to cool off a bit outside - I'm not sure I like this whole warmer weather thing! I'm looking forward to a bit of a cool-down tomorrow!

Evening all!

Keedokes-I voted for the chickens! Hope that helps you out!

SF-I agree with Jim, if the trumpet had valve issues (seriously doubt that) that would be the parents problem and not the band teachers. I would keep it and tell the band teacher not to worry about it since he did not buy it. I wish I made $720 for nothing. I played the French Horn in band and never paid a dime for the use of my instrument. But that was many years ago...

I took pics of the chicken yard but my camera ran out of power and I'm out of batteries so I'll post the pics tomorrow. I got the lawn mowed and the gentleman who wanted the Orloffs came tonite and got them! He also took a Barnevelder. He is in the printing business and gave me a boat load of prints of various chicken breeds. They are beautiful.
That leaves me with three Orloffs and I think 2 or roosters....just my luck!

Now, I need help please!! I'm going to loose one of the pheasant chicks. That leaves me with just "Buzzy" after the little one goes. Does any one have, or know of anyone that has, a couple of day old chicks that I can buy off of them? It doesn't matter what they are breed wise. I just need two or three to keep Buzzy company. Please PM if you can help Buzzy and me out. I'm in the Janesville area and am willing to travel to get them. Let me know who much you want for them. Thanks for your help!!

The teacher has something either against that company... or something.. IF your mom bought the trumpet it should have a warranty, and see about insurance on it to cover accidents OR the valve sticking issue.
I would talk to the principal about the teachers conduct.. that is horrible and not right to do to a child.

On a side note, I had to rescue a pair of baby bunnies from my dog.. I hope they are ok, I put them near where she had ONE in her MOUTH... and hope they are gone tomorrow.

ON another side note...
Met a man today who has a
Blue Redlaced wyandotte rooster for cheap...
VERY YOUNG... fully fledged, but no spurs really.
He got 12 straight run and had I think 5 roosters.. this is his last one.
NO hens...
If interested let me know via PM or Email.. I can pick up for you or give you his number.

Pretty bird.

Barlracer; I bet I bought my BEAUTIFUL blue eggs from you! I bet BCC can help you out with your problem.....

Off to Brookfield tomorrow for new employee orientation. Yippee. Drive to Milwaukee and back all in the same day.

My DH picked up our side of beef today and grilled some steaks to celebrate! Oh I love steaks done on the grill!!!

SF, tell your mom to stick to her guns! I bet the band teacher gets some kind of kickback for going with that particular music store..... if you want, send me a PM with the info on the trumpet. My sis is a former trumpet player and knows her stuff. I can have her give me the skinny on if the instrument is good or not. I am sorry about your geese, but look forward to getting some baby calls from me! Perhaps we could swap babies????

Amyable, I voted and the yes votes are in the lead!!!!

Send those people here to Wega to educate the boneheads here in town so I can have a few chickens!!!!

Anyway, I am headed out the door to my sis's house with a bottle of vino. Later all!

I have some day old chicks.. I would give you a couple if you care to drive this far.. but I am sure you can find some closer.. but the offer is real, and it stands..

the lady came and picked up het 19 chicks this afternoon.. I have 50 more eggs in the bator for her for a later hatch.. this hatch was only about 40%.. these are the people who collected eggs for almost a month before bringing them to me.. I magine the ones that hatched were the latest ones to be collected..

finally, both of the uko kei are laying eggs..

I picked up a tornado damaged plastic shed yesterday for $60.oo.. the guy wanted $100.oo, but I just cannot pay the asking price for anything..LOL Although, I just cannot tolerate anybody dikkering me down...LOL It is listed in the Menard's flyer for $649.00.. It has only a little roof damage where a branch fell on it.. the plastic is good but the metal brace got bent.. I'll just frame up some wood rafters for it.. I might use it to store the lawn mower and tiller.. and eventually 500 odds and ends so I won't be able to get at the lawn mower.. LOL

I am seriously thinking of selling my Jamesway incubators..
I have two working.. One is 220V and one is 110V and 2 others need 220V power cords..

Brent, a Hmong lady wanted to buy all of my Javas and Buckeyes.. I did not sell them.. I sort of want to see them after they mature.. Once they are full grown, I might sell some..

I have a feeling I have some eggs due to hatch.. I had better check some dates, eh?

BL4, our side of beef is due on Sat.. I like my steak pan fried..
Oh yeah, I like vino, too.. (next time you head out the door) hint hint...

WiCC I have one of those blue laced red WyDottes.. He is about 3 years old .. The guinea lady broought him with a bunch of other roosters for me to butcher for her.. I substituted a Buff Orp for him.. they all look alike without feathers.. Really, I asked her if it would be OK.. He is the one who gave me 71 pullets out of 84 eggs last year..

MLH,, I played French horn in grade school.. It was one of the stipulations for letting me back into school.. I only got as far as twinkle twinkle little star.. LOL
