Love this saying Jim!!!
Glad to know you have at least one brave web footed baby!!
SOOOOO I got a text from the lady who 2+ months ago emailed me about raising up some Salmon Favorelles that she got via Farm and Fleet.
Last week her chicks were due in and about 80% of the entire order died for every one. She reordered and her's came in, but 1 died.
I was going to F&F in Verona today to get chicken food, so called her and said if she called them, I could pick them up.
They don't really look like Favorelles that are pictured.. and they are awfully small. I brought in my nicest Silkie, and put them together in a cage I have.
In the coop for a few minutes to see how they would do.. well she didn't peck at them.. and just kinda ignored them.
So I brought her and the chicks home. I have them set up in the basement with a heater and a heat lamp...
I just put them in a box for the night, next to the heater so the box stays warm..And will check on them in about an hour.
I am hoping she will adopt them, she raised up 4 last year, but she brooded them.
If not, I will put them in a large box until they get bigger and then in a brooder pen.
The young lady does have a standard splash crested polish rooster that her dad has, he is mean as ALL HECK, but pretty...
If anyone is interested I can let her know.
Anyway...this young lady only wants one of the chicks, she had to order 5, but only wants the 1, so... I will be bringing the chicks
to the Bash to sell. They are pretty though, and are all PULLETS.
See you all laters!!
Carol
