Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I'm excited this is a great group! The Badger Poultry show is in Richland Center, WI on June 4th only. Someone told me it started at either 8:00 or 9:00 am. It is held at the Fairgrounds. Look at the index and go to "shows". There is a thread and an address. They said to Google the directions, NOT Mapquest. I hope some of you can make it?

we won't make it as we have several other things going on that day- must be a popular date, or people were hoping the weather would be nicer by than!

Welcome nonsuch and madereli!

Dornes, glad your chicks finally showed up, hope they are all fine.

Dornes your coop is looking good, can't wait to see it finished.

Celtic, think Carol mentioned having a couple/few of faverolles, but maybe she had them for someone else, hard to keep up around here!

TO, Seriously 38 for a low tonight? We were sitting out last night, once it finally dropped below 80 and there was a breeze, so of course I had to put on a light sweater... does anyone here think it's unlikely I'll survive my 1st winter there other than me?

DH just shook his head and said he'd HAVE to find me some really good long johns (which I'll probably be wearing by September 1st from the sounds of things!)

Does anyone in the Janesville, Madison area know of a store that sells SOLID wood tables? Doesn't matter if they are finished or unfinished, I just want a solid wood dining room table, I can finish it myself. Found one place in Janesville that sells Kincaid(e) furniture that is solid wood, but didn't like the looks of what they showed online, hoping they may have more choices in store.

Off to take care of a couple of things, have a great evening all!

WOW THANKS TO!!!! I've been elevated to mascot! dk tell the DH he's off the hook on wearing that stupid chicken costume.

I'd let you have my elec socks [never worn] but think I might need them for the Bash. Underneath that stupid costume. Wish I was going to Richland Center would stop for a meet and greet but then I would be off to see fam and look for morels, morals. I'm sure I wouldn't find either. Maybe not all three. Naw someone would be home. Dornes I've got nothing but hope for those chicks! I ordered last year from Meyers and they came right on schedule [overnight] and are doing great!

CD had to take some of the nastiest anti's when I had bouts of diverticulitis. You had to put them in your mouth and wash them down as fast as possible. They were the proverbial skunks butt in your mouth! I've tasted a lot of bad stuff but those topped them all by miles! Sure hope that they work for you! MLH so glad to hear that the chillins are OK! You are a kind soul! I like that in a person, it's all that really counts! Yes Raim I'm drinking and reading AND typing. What next? Been up since 4 for the 3rd day in a row. Busted butt in the woods. That tree turned out to be more tree than I thought, that's a good thing. Couldn't swing the saw anymore so split what I had bucked up and brought it in. Man it's gonna put a lot of wood in the shed!

Here's one photo of the fuzzy butts... so worth the stress I was given while they were on their way here.

Hee Hee... they sleep standing up and their heads on the bottom of the brooder. Never saw that before. Funny little things!

The peeps have the cats awefully curious right now to, over by the tub staring into the sides. Good thing I weight tested the mesh on top before putting the chicks in it.. one kitty has decided that is the best view! They are eating and drinking lots too, none of them have really settled down since I brought them home. Looks like they are all doing well and I can't really tell if any of them have been stressed out from the shipping...

Evening all!

nonsuch-for the show, the judging starts at 9am. Coop in is either Friday from 4-9pm or Saturday at 7 am. I think BCC (Buch Creek Chickens) has Faverolles? I would not be surprised to see some at the show. Hopefully some one will have them and you can hook up with a breeder or at least some one who might know of a breeder.

Welcome mandereli! Hope you like it here!

dornes-I'm so glad that the chicks got you all right! They sure are a cute bunch!

CD-I love your carport chicken area! I'm so getting one at one point! That is a brilliant idea! I also like our coop. I have had my eye on a shed like yours for some time now, but have always been concerned about ventilation and if there are enough vents. Costco has an uber cool shed I really like- complete with sky lights- but I'm worried about the chickens not getting good ventilation in it. The pet door is awesome!
I agree with taking yogurt with antibiotics. I had to take some pretty nasty ones after my surgery. I got a kidney infection and pneumonia that went into plueressy (sp). That sucked big time! I had to take 3 different antibiotics. One for the kidneys, one for the lungs and one for post op stuff. I was so bushed-but that might have been the vicodine too! I sucked mints and drank water like a fish. If you are having a real bad reaction, let your doc know. It might be normal side effect stuff from the drugs, but you also might be having a slight reaction to them and he might want to try anther type of antibiotic. I sure hope you feel better soon!!

DrH-thanks for the nice words! You made me blush!! I think you should take a break from tree hacking and do a meet and greet at Richland Center! We can all say Hi and talk about chickens, family, and morals so you are prepared to find morels!!

It's the helping others that matters, eh!

Welcome new folks...hope you can make the bash, it's the celebration of folks loving chickens and life! Bring the kids, mom, dad and the friendly neighbors....maybe even the crabby neighbors...they will go home from the bash with a grin! Nothing like chicken folk!

My venzun on the grill tonight was awful tender and delicious.

I have a picture with my 3 call ducklings. The duck on the left and the little pastel one on the right are 5 days apart in age. What the heck? I hatched these myself from a trio. I can't figure out why the pastel is so tiny. He's 2 1/2 weeks old and looks like he just hatched. I hope he doesn't suddenly die on me! This picture makes him look bigger than he is.

Omg, duck babies! I was at the feed mill on Monday and there was baby ducks in a box... I wanted to take one home. They said no, apparently it was someones order... I told them that they could have just said it died or was missed in the box and no one would know... but, baby ducks grow into big ducks... and they are so not cute when they are big!
