Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good Morning Everyone! Think I stayed too long in the heat yesterday, feeling weird this morning. Think I'll give the wood making the day off. Opened one of the windows and turned the fan on in the coop last night. bl4 OMG those are some cute chicks! Can't type anymore my head is swimin. Maybe later.

My goodness Dr H, you are up early. I am up early because I am helping feed round bales to the nearly 50 horses at the barn this morning.
Then off to the mini swap to rehome the two roosters. Then on to the Dells to meet Dorner, and then to Baraboo to meet Sweet Folly.
Then home to water things and NAP!!!

Have a great one all!

Hey DrH- you should probably take it really easy today and try and stay inside, I have to be super careful these days with the heat- ended up with heat stroke 7.5 years ago when DH and I went to help move my sister back from AZ. If I am outside when it's too hot I feel weird later and the next day.

DrH - you really should take it a bit more easy when it is so hot like that. Make sure you get enough water in you too.

Shanty - I love that picture of your postlady and your delivery

Goes to show that they are not all bad eggs...

I am just jeleous at all of you that have your gardens in or are getting them in this weekend. I sprayed with 2, 4, D just Wednesday so I have to wait until at least next Friday to till and then it is on to planting. And heres to hoping there isn't too many weeds... I hate weeding a garden. Nothing worse than that!

Hey all, just got caught up on this week's posts. Haven't been on this week much, stupid flu bug knocked me for a ringer all week and was too busy at work to get to stay home. Blegh. Starting to feel better today. Able to eat something at least...haven't eaten since Tuesday, dropped 10 pounds, blegh. I see I'm missing a good chicken show today, darn it! Would have loved to go and snoop around and get the down low on chicken showing. Too far away to make an impromtu trip today.

Got lots of box elder weeds around our property. Can't say I mind them much, they make nice shade trees.

Gotta go box up some chickens for Carol and get my chores done. Have a good day.

Good hot morning everyone! It is a cooker out there! Just talked to Carol and Connie....since we cant go to the show today we are having a mini-meet at the Pine Cone in Johnson Creek! Trading birds and trees and ? (maybe Hurley will give mo one of her little boys? LOL--doubt it!)

Yes Amyable my irises are blooming too! I have YELLOW...finally! I think I might have coneflowers coming up too...I can never get those to grow and actually bloom so I guess I will see...they do look like the right leaves!

OK--I think I better get a move on...no more relaxing...even though I do have a killer head ache!

Hey DrH.......I sure hope you do take it really easy today. It really sounds like you got a bit of heat stroke (I like to call if heat frustration!) Yup--stay hydrated today and OUT of any sun! You will have to be really careful from now on too if you did get it---like CHeryl said you will be forever susceptible...kind of like frost bite but the opposite!

Gotta run! Have a fantastic day! Terri O

Thanks everyone! Yup I had heat stroke a few years back and it doesn't take much to get sick now. I knew I was close yesterday shoulda quit a couple of hours sooner. TO I call it heatcastration.

hiding in the house all day doing as little as possible. Closed my eyes for about an hour and feel a little better. Hopefully up to snuff tomorrow.

Why is it we always go from cold & rainy to beastly hot & humid? Whatever happened to spring? I've been melting also.

Dornes, I am so sorry to hear about your chicks. That is such a heart breaker.
I have a useless PO carrier too. I seriously think he fills out those slips before his route to come pick up our packages at the PO so he doesn't have to come up our driveway &, heaven forbid, get out of his truck. Must cut into his morning bar time schedule. I have been home, & out in the yard even, & he'll just put the slip in the box along with the mail & leave. I've even contacted the main office & they said that he insisted that noone was home. Well, how would ya know if you don't come to the door? And if he came to the door, why was the slip down in the mailbox?

BBP, that is a very good looking roo. I hope your dorking makes it. My girls have all been panting & drooping their wings these last 2 days. I leave the coop door open & have a fan going in there, but it's still warm. Noone had a chance to adjust to the heat because of this stupid spring-time, or lack of it, weather.
MLH, that is an excellent idea with the water jugs. I'm going to try that today. I let the big girls out in the yard yesterday & opened up the door so the rabbits & little ones could have free reign for a while. One of the rabbits went to the dust bath area (the only spot without wire on the floor) & dug herself a small tunnel to try to stay cool in. Poor girl.
A 16+ year old rabbit? Wow! He must have been a big one. That's impressive. I rescued an adult rabbit years ago. I had no idea how old he was, but I had him 12 years. Sweetest lil guy ever.
WCC, I am glad your check came. How annoying. Sounds like you are in for a busy day. Take care in this heat. It was nice this AM but now the sun is cooking it up down here. Yeesh!
Raim, love the goats & their toy. Looks like it was a hit.
DrH, awesome on the Husky. You will not be disappointed. I bought my DH one about 6+ years ago & he loves it. Always starts & runs great, plus it'll go thru anything. I sure hope you are feeling better soon. Too much sun always gets me feeling ill. H&R is right; you should take it easy today. (Twisting your arm as I speak, er, type).

Frizz, so sorry about the baby bunnies.
Dooner, hope the coop goes together good. That dance must have been adorable.
I sure wish the darn clouds would come back. There is way too much to do around here. Hope everyone has a great day & stays somewhat cool.

A quick question and off to a graduation party. We don't have a fan in the coop and only one window and the pop door on the same wall. The large door is out of the run and we don't have a screen on that so a fan is a must??? And if a fan- till we get one leave the pop door open at night?
Pool is open but chilly 78 so far. Cleaned it and tried it out Brrrrrrrrr. Be cool ! Susie
