I don't think you're going over board. These are OUR kids we're talking about. My son's bus driver swears and had 3 "accidents" last year. One was hitting a mailbox backing up. (Witch he would have never done if he hadn't decided to take the long way home on a whim.) I hate my son's bus driver. I what his old bus driver back. She was super nice but had to find a better paying job due to a divorce.

You should go online and read up on the rules of bus driving. There's a place in Shawno that trains all the surrounding communities to drive bus. I have forgotten the name of the company though. Sorry. I believe that he is breaking the law by moving the bus BEFORE the kids are completely accross the road. The bus is supposed to be there, with it's lights on, so the kids don't get hit by a passing car. It's the whole point!

Stuff like that just infuriates me. My kids safety is #1.

Keep us posted, please.

the thing is I'm a bus driver, been doing it for 21 years, and I use to work for this company. I talked to my boss (I drive in a different district) he couldn't believe that the guy was still driving. the next thing I'm going to do is go to the district again and show them the video. this guy is a real jerk, he's also been arranging the route so my DD is the last one off , she's in the middle of the route, I still haven't figured out he does it

Nice rain today, eh?

Sorry to hear about the crappy bus drivers you'all are dealing with. I suppose the lousy pay doesn't help anything either. I really hope you can resolve the problems with better safer drivers.....

My children rode the bus til they were in their teens. I really wanted them to continue to enjoy the safe ride to school. (no way ) They had suzie give them a ride, cause they hated having to ride the bus. My kids were the first picked up and the last dropped off. I'm only 2 miles from town?

They had to get up early to catch the bus...ride for a half hour...go to school, then ride for a half hour to get home. It makes no sense, so we agreed to deliver and pick up the kids....it made them happy.

When we live IN TOWN....my DS who was in kindergarten then, was to ride the bus for an hour before he got to school. He got on the bus at 6:50 am and school started at 8am. We also had to walk 2 blocks to just get to the bus. They had him go to the school 6 miles out of town instead of the one 1 mile from our house. He rode the bus 2 weeks! Not just the long ride, but he was left on the bus with another kindergartener on the 4th day of school. One of my neighbor boys had to chase the bus down and get the 2 boys off. Kindergarteners don't know what's going on. But you would think that if the mother is standing there, with NO CHILD, hands in the air, going where's my kid.....that would give him a clue. Idiot!

When I rode the bus we were either the first picked up or the last dropped off. So you either got up to catch the bus at 7 or you were stuck on the bus until 4. We loved 4 miles from the school and we could walk home faster than getting home on the bus..... sometimes the route would take us more than 20 miles from where we lived (stupid IMHO to keep kids riding around on a bus that long). I could never understand why they did not have designated busses for our community to take the kids in, instead of having 4 different busses come and drop off/pick up kids but then also drive these kids WAY out of the way to pick up other kids on the other side of the district.......

Waste of gas and time..... I could not wait to get my license and car so I could QUIT riding the bus.....

Saturday evening to everyone.

I hope everyone had a great day. Kinda wish it was still summer. No cook out's this weekend prolly. Shared some veggies and apples with fordmommy today....we had a nice visit.

I ended getting even more veggies and some salsa from our Renter. Small squash and eggplant and a few other things. I'm really going to be a busy girl this week. I already know I will have to run to the store tomorrow and pick up some more freezer bags.

I planted four apple trees last year in the spring. They haven't produced any fruit, yet, of course, so a friend from church gave me two boxes full of a mix of types from their orchard... Macs, Winesaps, Wolf Rivers, and some unknown yellow. The Wolf are HUGE!

I made one batch of sauce yesterday... Seven quarts in the cabinet. And, I hardly dented the supply!

We went to Hodag City today to get some gutters. While there, I looked for a food mill. We checked four-or-five stores without any luck. Guess I'll have to do it by hand again, tomorrow.

I plan on making an attempt at growing some Wolf River apple trees from the seeds out of the apples I have been processing.......

I know it is difficult, but hey I like a good challenge!

In case you don't know, or somebody else reading this doesn't know, unless there are no other varieties of apple trees within a mile, growing seeds is quite a gamble. If pollen from one variety gets to the flower of another variety, then the seeds could produce a tree like either parent, or even something new.

Most trees sold are created by grafting a branch off a known variety to a rootstock. By doing it that way, they know what kind of fruit the new trees will produce.

Since they produce new trees by grafting, they tell you you need to get two varieties... Because an apple tree won't self-pollinate. If you get two trees of the same variety from one nursery, the odds are pretty high that they are branches off the same parent tree, and therefore won't pollinate each other.

To boil it all down, growing apple seeds is a gamble. You might get a good tree that is like its parent, and you might not. You might even get a tree that produces fruits that are terrible. On the other hand, you might get a tree that produces the best fruit you've ever eaten. And, it's a long experiment... It takes years to get from seed to a tree producing fruit.
