how bad is the flipping over problem?

I have turkeys do that.. It seems that their equilibriam is not develped.. It can be corrected in about an hour.. what I do is take th bird and hold it in the proper position while I am watching TV>> make it move once in awhile so that it pushes with its feet to try to stand up.. you do this every ten minutes or so.. after about an hour they usually are wobbley, but they stay upright.. after a couple of days you would never know they had a problem..

Thanks for the advice Jim; I had the kids hold him upright for the past 2 hours or so, he is back into the brooder so he can get himself together more. He really needs a decent nap but #1 just keeps picking on him...... he is doing much better now..... still holds himself in the curve of the egg shape a bit but straightening out more and more. I think he will be fine.

I meant I didn't know if the buttercup was a he or she yet, never having raised any. I'm getting the feeling it's a he. I don't have Lavender Orps, but I have Lavender Ameraucanas (both bantam and LF).

Holy 90 degrees here today.
Nope the rain went just north of us. Clouded up for a little but not a drop fell. Congrats on the new grill Doc. My weber is used prolly 5 days a week during the summer. Even during winter when it's not nasty windy we fire it up. If it's the one touch, you will love the way it breathes.

Yep the bash is closing in fast. I'm excited too.

No AC here.... Only air we have comes from open windows and doors...all of which are open. We have to chase the hens out all the time. They really love to get chased out the back and then come around to the front, and see if they can sneak in that way. Silly hens!

I didn't realize he needed to be bottle fed for another 6 weeks! Our cat nursed our other one for a few weeks so it didn't seem that long. He's pretty cute though. Really wants to snuggle to get that body heat.

Dornes, I second BL4 in that I would have loved your talent at the birth of my youngest! It was a home birth on a beautiful summer day last year. I recently watched a photo/video movie of a birth and it was so beautiful. My midwives were BirthWise in Appleton, I'd recommend you

Welcome to the new people; please consider attending our Bash in Clintonville in a few weeks - it's a grand ol' time!

Half the garden is in, much too hot to finish today. Had 2 nekkid kiddos in the pool earlier, now maybe a nap in the basement. Seriously considering sleeping down there tonite too. Play it safe and stay cool today, no heavy working

Hiding out inside.. (oxymoron?) I couldn't wait to try out the tractor so I dragged the whole garden.. It went just great.. Now i can't wait to do it again.. LOL ..... the garden is about 400 feet long by 50 feet wide.. I actually did not drag it.. I used the back blade like a hoe and skimmed just the top inch or two..

Annie called about our seeds again.. Jung said they were rebagging the corn.. that is the same thing they told her last week !! Annie does not lose it very easily, but she came close.. the final word was that if it was not here before the weekend, they should not send it at all.. they said they would put an "urgent" on it... ya think??

2 of the baby turkeys died today.. too much heat and humidity.
they do not take it as well as chickens do..
