Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Does anyone know where I can get a pair of Snowy Mallards? DH asked Paul at the auction about getting another pair and he said he can't and good luck finding them. I'm really missing them, so to find replacements would be great! Here's the most recent pic of what they looked like.

Another hot one today we had around 96* all the chickens and turkeys are hot except the ones haging out in our big work garage- it stays cool in there even without A/C. Shared a watermelon with them all and the chickens knew what to do with it but the turkeys were mystified by the watermelon- such entertainment

Well DH and DD are on their way to Lake Mills for fastpitch softball- not canceled as of yet- went with lots of water and ice as well as washcloths in the cooler to help everyone stay cool. Of course DD is the only catcher

The 2 boys and I will be heading out the DS(6)'s T-ball game that starts at 6 pm and than leave early and get DS(9) to his game in Marshall for 7 pm. We also have a cooler with ice and wash clothes and drinks and some other cool snacks.

Hope everyone stays cool!

Hi Wisconsin,
I have been on this site a lot in the past but mainly just looking for info. I never signed up so I could post anything. I have had my hens for a year now. My first attempt with 24 cornish cross is 4 weeks old. My homing pigeons haven't flown yet and my chuckers just laid 4 eggs. Think I will make mini deviled eggs. I live in Nelsonville, near Amherst. I sure wish someone else in this village would get into chickens. I am looking forward to reading on and getting to know some of you.
Jerry

Jim; thank you for the pointer. After a nice looooonnngggg nap, baby is running around like a normal baby duck. Now when I put the two together #1 picks on #2....... will they stop doing that and get along????

Frizz, your mallards were beautiful......

Amy, sorry about your baby chick as well.

Just came home from a local park that has a river running through it. Everyone is a bit more crispy and tired but we all had a good time! I was hoping the water would be cooler though.....

Off to grill dinner!

I took two chicks up to Dorner who drove an hour to meet me, then picked up 10 baby quail for Terri O from Sweet Folly, then met up with her and Hurley to get some chickens her..
All before 3 pm!! Last saturday.. LOL

Bigz- I am going to give my money for the t-shirts to TO to give to you. We aren't going to be able to make it, partially due to finances, and partly to farm sit for TO.
But I think we should still aim for a BYC horse trail ride/chicken swap and picnic!!

The very nice neighbor I am helping gave us an older AC unit today it is working great.
NOT having AC last night.. was hard.. DH and were both tired.

I took down more plastic on the outside of the stall, and took a board down on a window in the barn to get more airflow in for the chickens, they were panting alot this afternoon. Each pen as several waterers or cups for water.
I need to go buy them some watermelon...
Off to go let small dachunds out to excersize!!

TO, so sorry to hear about your little quail. Cute chickie pics! At least having more babies helps to heal faster.

Cind, good luck with the broodie.

My gals look pretty uncomfortable too these past few days. It is way too early to be getting these kind of temps. already. I hope that cold front gets its rear in gear soon.
David, you do have quite the impressive setup for your birds. That looks like it was a lot of work.
Congrats on the Weber, DrH! That is great. Those things are expensive.
BL4, I sure am happy your baby got better.

SF, BBP & amy, I am so sorry to hear of your losses. That is never easy.

Congrats on the ducklings, Jim. They sound adorable. So happy to hear she didn't lose them. And that planting table sounds great. Wish I had one.

Oh crap. I just read about your turkeys. I am so sorry. Wow, this has not been a good day.

BBP, that is the cutest coon pic. How sweet they are when they're babies. 6 more weeks of bottlefeeding? Wow! He sure is a liitle guy.
Friz, that is the coolest duck pic ever. Just what we needed on such an oppressive day. I sure hope you find some more. They are some beautiful birds.

Jerry! Always happy to welcome in a new face, uh, voice.

Hope you like it here.
Well, it was 96* out by the chickens around noonish, but noone looked bad. They had their wings drooping a bit when they were in the coop last night, though. Poor things. I had the door open & a fan circulating the air, but it was just too stuffy out.
I don't have any watermelon either, but I was about to run some frozen corn on the cob out for them to peck on. Found some hiding in the back of the freeze from our garden last year. When I still had a garden.
Try to keep cool, everyone! Hopefully tomorrow that cold front will get here early.

Hey Jerry! I used to live in Nelsonville right across the street from the 'new' post office! I'll ask my contacts there about who knows what with chickens...

BBP I love your chicken pic! Looks like a pic of the week!

Both calls are now together and best buds. They are both in love with the feather duster...... it is so very CUTE!

All the eggs I set on the 13th and 14th of May are quitters..... I set about 12 on the 29th of May so

hoping some hatch!

Kids had all the ducks out of their pen 2-3 times today and set the sprinkler going for them..... I have 7 very tired ducks in their pen right now.

Between swimming in the pool, the heat, and playing in the lawn they wore themselves out!

Not looking forward to work tomorrow!!!! Hopefully it will not be too bad... I know I am in AC but wearing your clothes and then a labcoat over everything makes things pretty stuffy.

just came in from re-watering everything.. it was 100F under the brooder hood.. all the young turkeys were laying on top of it..

CelticC, e lose about 2 turkeys a week here.. the mortality rate is so high with them.. that is why I will not sell any before they are at least 12 weeks old..

BB4, all birds will pick on the abnormal one.. and yes, they get over it..

my bro in law called.. he is going to come out this weekend to help put our garden in.. this will be the first time ever that I have help with it.. does that mean I am getting old ?? LOL
