Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Iowa Blue chickies hatching today, hoping for a good hatch. 5 out so far.

Nice coolish weather today. Had fun with the boys playing outside and got a new roost built for the layer pen's coop. Need to get the young bird shed cleaned out next.

Broody still sitting on 5 eggs, anxious to see if she hatches any.

Evening All... Thanks bl4 on the proper route to take for folks from the south. Susie you should be good to go coming from GB. We have to go there alot to the eye Doctor. We take hwy 29 west to 156 and take that west to c-ville. It's about one hour.
Fired up the grill for sweet corn and brats tonight. Gotta love that carmeled corn off the grill.

Hope you get the corn in tomorrow Jim. We only picked up 2 tenths of rain...but happy and blessed with that. The broccoli is standing proud today.
Good luck with the hatches...hope they all are a success.

I'm not a horse person at all. Allow me to tell you guys what I know. One of the biggest rides in the state is only a couple miles from here. It's a week end event the last days of sept and the first of oct....it's called Colorama and folks camp on the hill at Caroline just up the road from me. I know they have a number of rides...one I think like 4hours through the wooded hills and some other shorter ones. I think they had 1500 horses in the sat ride last year. I'll try to have some imfo at the bash for folks that care.

My amish neighbors...one of the family is horse whisperer...the horse trailers go by weekly. He breaks horses for riding, and folks take momma horses down there to have baby horses....don't know the proper terms, eh! There you have it...my horse knowledge.

Good gravy- I posted yesterday and still had 3 pages to read.
Ok- Thanks for the directions and I knew about the construction and was already thinking of a different route when BL4 and Frizz gave one. Thanks. Clintonville is about hour and 45 from me, It's the half way point when we go up north to Rhinelander, we stop at the shell station and order at the slowest McD's in the world.

I know of the road you mentioned Bigz and should have no problem getting there.
TO and others- I think after the 4th would be best too. Life should slow down by then. I'll either have to start practicing with the new trailer and truck or DH will have to come so he can drive the "school bus". But the more the merrier. I'm thinking that the South kettles would be the best place to go. Inbetween us. Let me know what you guys think.

good evening, just got home .. went to a picnic this afternoon.
gotta waste time once in awhile,.. too wet to work in the garden anyhow.. maybe tomorrow..

still setting guinea eggs ,, and ducks and turkeys..

have a total of 23 pea hen eggs set so far.. I heard they are difficult to hatch.. we will see..

Glad to help! Is anybody bringing their horses to this shindig? Or big camper trailers? I just want to warn everyone one that the 2 lane highway on 41 between Oshkosh and Neenah has some areas that are only 11 feet wide for the two lanes. It will be a tight fit! There is also the issue with Friday night traffic; if you can get out of the area before 4 you will have an easier time getting through......

You can also check the DOT travel site if you want to see the counstruction zones...

http://www.511wi.gov/web/map.aspx?region=winterroads&show=1

I know the link says winter roads, but there are buttons you can click to let you see where the construction is.

We have been handling the baby ducks so they can get used to people.... tonight the kids had all the baby ducks and the chicks in the living room watching Glee......

Auction tomorrow! Everyone enjoy the evening!

Thank you all for the construction updates! That is most helpful.

DH & I went to pick up some landscape timbers for the new garden today. Yay! And did a ton of weeding & pruning around the yard. Found my first tick of the season crawling up my arm too. Yeesh! Hate them things!

Had the "girls" mingling with the "ladies" for a little while today. Went as well as you'd expect.

We'll try again tomorrow.

The sun is supposed to make an appearance tomorrow. We shall see. Hope everyone has a lovely day!

So many hatches yet!

I wonder how little ones there would be if we added them all up?

DH is working Sun. but has off Mon. However, he's going to spend Mohaulinging free fire wood. Guess I'm on my own with the garden.

OK, I couldn't print the direction for coming for the South for the Bash. I wrote down the page they were on and lost that!

Good Chilly Morning Everyone! 40* here. Made a roast on the barbie last night it was delish! The other grill was too small for that. Went through and cleaned various implements of destruction yesterday. That needed doing. Think we're gonna wait a bit for it to warm up before hitting the water. Don't hold too much hope for catchin today the water has to have cooled off. But I'm sure we'll have a good time anyway. Got 7 eggs yesterday seems my lecture payed off. The dang lawn needs mowing again and the big garden could use a weeding

Enjoy the sunshine people I know we will!
