DrH, sorry about the 12's. At least all the fat cash is some reward, eh!
babylady4 Congrats to you. My mom is a retired RN. She always was in demand. You get the signing bonus and other perks being so valuable to the hospitals. They didn't want her to retire. Nurses Rock.
Better luck next time fordmommy. Jim had some back luck....his 14 year old dog was hit and killed by a car. At least the guy stopped and felt really sorry. Then he hurt his back dragging the dog off the roadway. I'm gonna keep him posted about the 12th. He's gonna try and make it!
Annarie....I don't have any poultry from sandhill right now. I plan on getting some more Lt Brahmas, and javas. I called them and talked to Linda. They aren't going to have any Lt Brahmas....so I'm not sure what I'm going to do. Garfield Farm is where I'd like to get the javas from....time will tell.
Waiting for dinner to get done...I still dont think my stove is up to par...DH put new thermostats in and a regulator and something else too. The temp still isnt right. I am frustrated. It is very challenging to bake or cook anything really...it does not have a definite thing like 25 degrees too low or whatever; it depends on it's whim for the day. Drives me NUTS!
Got the truck vacuumed out just in time tonight...WHEW! I am glad that's done--sshhh! The guy that dropped the hay on the beltline must not be paying as much as I am for the bales that he could let it lay there! I just say dollars flying off the back of the truck. I was a little worried about this hay because it is a lot grassier than I like but the critters seem to like it so all is good.
Well--I better check out that dinner...at this rate we wont be eating until 9 pm! Terri O
Does anyone else have any particularly social chickies? My 3yo let the chickettes loose in the house without my knowledge. I was sitting on the couch helping my daughter with her sewing and all of a sudden I looked up to find them walking around chirping softly and every now and then they'd just look up to watch us as if they were curious to know what we were up to. They were quite happy and not bothering anything or getting into trouble or anything like that, but they just seem to be immensely social! A friend of mine who has lots and lots of chickens told me that chickens were trainable to a certain extent but didn't seem to think that they'd actually be social and want to interact with us, but our chickettes actually seem to want to be around us and "play" so to speak. Or am I imagining things? They've flown around the living room before (when I left the kids to keep an eye on them so I could clean their pine shavings and such... yeah, long story), but this is the first time they came out to hang out.
Maybe I should have offered them some sprouts and meal worms.
Terri O, There must be a hay fairie. I parents were going to their friends house the other day and found 6 bales of alphala on the road. They had broken up, but they didn't care.
Zohbug, I don't know about chicks per sae, but chickens I believe can be social. My flock comes out by me if they are free ranging. Almost to see what I am doing. Or maybe jsut to see if I have treats.
Well Zoebug--when CHarlie was alive and in the house (that was my legless chicken if yo dont recall) He would greet me every morning and want to sit on my lap before the dogs and everybody else got up and around! He really seemed to enjoy that few minutes we had together before he had to go back into his kennel. At the end he was very restless until I took him on my lap, and then he gently passed...I still get teary thinking about it! My parrots were always social....I dont see why a chicken wouldnt be...
And after that...good morning everyone! Nice and sunny and I have the sheets in the washer, soon to be hung out on the line...I do believe that I am suffering from spring fever! Well, everyone have a fantastic day--get out and enjoy some of that sunshine! Terri O--looking forward to camping!
THe Chickenstock is POSTED!!! go to the thread and check it out. If you need any changes please let me know.
Here are a few things that we need help with:
We are looking for someone to coordinate kids' activities
I will need a few folks to sit at the sign in table
name tags/markers
donated doorprizes
Someone said that they had access to tableware---who was that?
THat is all I can think of right now...I am sure there are more things. Anyone please chime in so we can make this Chickenstock GREAT! Terri O Thanks...now back to our normal banter
