Nuf said......lol...

MXM- Yes Marg...DrH is hilarious..... So we need pics of the pole barn Christmas Tree. Glad you had fun with TO! She is great people! I love her too...

Jim-Nice pics of the nest boxes you built! I'm in awe...

Chickenscratch-CC is right on the feed. Ideally with a better quality feed, you feed less because the chickens get better nutrition. In the winter I find my girls will eat a little bit more. Helps them to keep warmer. I feed Nutrena's Country Feed's 16% Layer. I have no egg problems. My Girls don't really eat the Calcium grit since the pieces are so big. I miss the true oyster shell that we had in Cali....*sigh*

Angie-Hilarious pic! Thanks for posting it! Made me laugh!

Well, had more to say but lost my train of thought grabbing for my coffee up....must need more!
Later all!

good morning folks,

I feed starter until they feather out,,then switch to grower

Joe funny post, hope you get the sex thing figured out, hard to believe you haven't at your age

TO you found that stapler in the kitchen when we were talking, is the plastic there?

FT, betcha the kentucks don't flush shavings down the toilet

Jim hope Ollie gets fixed and he likes being oiled

bbl time for chores

good AM, not going to be on here again until tonight,, going to take a road trip with Annie to Wittenburg.. DD#2 is going to sit with gramma..

DrH,, If you are going to have the cats fixed, what difference is it what sex they WERE ?

A red light should have gone off when the oil pressure gauge didn't register anything .. It never did before, so I (ready ?) ASSUMED it was broken.. I am wondering how long the oil pump wasn't working before we tore the motor apart.. because all the old bearings were just fine..

In those last nest photos, you can see the studs for the wall in the back ground.. I built the "coop" inside of an unused cow barn.. the ceiling was insulated and sheathed off.. the the father of the autistic boy poured a large section of concrete for the floor..

It was a nice set up for sure..

I am not making coffee this AM>. nobody here to drink it.. I will grab a cuppa at the restaurant ..
It will be tough to get through chores without my kick start..

Marge, how much hair spray will you need to make a tree ?

HI ALL! did ya miss me? been busy busy busy here. we have so much going on, besides 5 kids (homeschooling 1 THIS year), we are getting ready for my husbands grandma (89yrs old) to move in. she's forgetful REALLY forgetful lol I have to oversee everything now, found out she hasn't been paying her bills. get this, she told me she needs cash but she doesn't have ANY money in ANY accounts??? IDK what she wanted me to do? rob a bank? lol thankfully she had money in her acct. lol anywho I also have an evening job at a local department store as cashier, its going good AND I survived Black Friday (that was the first day I cashiered by myself lol) kids are adjusting well, DH isn't used to all the kid time (having to feed them and put them to bed lol) kids had to get use to listening to dad (sorry he just don't deal with the kids) I always got them ready for bed and tucked them in and he comes around and gives them all hugs and kisses. just the way it is/was lol I told them ALL that I WILL know if they didn't go to bed on time lol (Cause they don't get up in the a.m. if they don't go to bed on time at night. lol) first time with out me they failed lol they missed the bus lol ok now on to chickens (stupid computer/site wont let my hit enter? idk y? I can't tell you how many birds of ours have died in the last month? I have NO clue whats going on, some were SUPER skinny? some there was NOTHING wrong? one being our Favorite white silkie, Snowball, no clue what was wrong. possible she couldn't find her way back into the coop at night and froze to death? IDK I do know that I've put more of the critter responsibility on my DH, I just don't have the time. he asked me what I did all day one day (before I bit his head off for asking that, lol) I told him what I did, then he needed a drink lol I dealt with his Grandma all day, every time I'm with her I need wine when I get home lol DH says I need something stronger lol her thinking makes MY head hurt. lol she tells me she don't think moving in here would be a good idea, but then she burns her super, forgets to pay bills, pays the same bills 2-3x in a month. sends a TON of money to organizations that are stupid. and complains she has no money, she even stopped giving gifts(money) to loved ones. anywho now that you all need a drink lol I gotta run there's a TON of crap that has to be done before I gotta work tonight. my awake schedule is currently 6am - 12:30 am lol I need more coffee!

this is the finished nests framed into the wall.. the door way at the right leads to a "clean" area where feed and equipment are kept.. You can just make out the outside door at the right of the picture...

before and after pictures of the slab..and finished walls..

the width is 12 feet and the length is 30 feet..

Morning all,

Yes, it was a great visit, so glad to meet a BYC'er in person......unless I got lucky and TerriO is the nicest one! LOL If I cudda got outta my meeting earlier, it seems I cudda met Marge too. Thanks for the tour, that was awesome, complete with stampede. The horses all RAN at us, I turned sideways and crossed myself (I said CROssed)...I'm not even Catholic. In hindsight, it was probably a bad time for sarcasm as I believe the horses were testing me a little as a stranger. Horses are so smart tho, they even knew I was joking. Another funny thing, Terri gave me 2 eggs to hold....then we were trying to adjust a band on a roo. He ran toward me, and she yelled Stop him! So I dove and got a tailfeather (oops) AND broke both eggs.....later she showed me the bucket of eggs she had and said not to worry...I said, Ooh leet me hold them. LOL

DrH- Was just talkin to Otonoh about acronyms and my lack of knowing them....what's a PR in regard to my roo?

AngieBubs- Hilarious and agreed.

ChikinScratch- I'm no expert (nobody say anything!), but my story with cooping chickens is relayed and possibly relevant under "free, all you can catch" which is a post in general BYC. BLUF- I learned, basically if you coop something up long enough (without letting them out at all), they'll return there for safety and sleep. Degree of wildness or ornary-ness is relative to how long that takes. Same with feeding, ie. "How do you feed your dog on lettuce?, My dog won't eat lettuce." Answer, "Mine wouldn't either for the first two weeks." LOL, that last part was a joke, Jerry Clower I think.

I have been around chickens my whole life....to the point I have actually been attacked by a chicken hawk....

Later

Good morning! Got a good start on today already...all inside critters fed and litterboxes even scooped! Now I am having a little breakfast and then out to do the outside stuff...

Kris--MLH has and "insider" for Nutrena foods...but you can get it at F&F. THey have coupons quite often.
Nice nest boxes Jim! Was that for the handicapped person that you built the coop for? They certainly look functional!
Good luck with those little kitties DrH! Crazy times at your place for sure.

I went to Menards last night...got lots of stuff--including the plastic...forgot the batteries! I needed AA for some of my Christmas village lights...now I will have to go back...darn.
DS23 is up already! He says he will help with the plastic on the porch. GLad we can get it done!

You guys have to stop telling me how "wonderful" I am...(blushing) I am going to get THE BIG HEAD and not be able to fit out the door to go to work! We are all good people here ya know.
There was so much more I was going to say...HMMM.

BigFam...you are asking Newbie questions now? LOL! Feed it until you run out and then go to grower. I just skip that step and start with grower then feed layer when they are old enough to lay.

Guess I better get moving...lots to do before I head off too work today! Have a good one! TerriOgoingtofallasleepifIdontgetupNOW

Raim, I wish you LOTS of luck.. You are doing a nice thing with gramma, and you will notice she is there.. My mother was the same way when we took her in here..

once while still living alone: she took her newspaper that had been delivered in the rain and was wet .. set it over a floor lamp to dry it out.. paper did dry out,, caught on fire, fell to the carpet, burned a hole in it.. Mom stepped the fire out, while wearing a floor length night gown.. anybody see any danger in that ??

and it should be against the law for organizations to prey on old people for money.. they claim they are doing great things with the money, while robbing the old folks.. when mom moved in here,, all donations ceased..
