Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Vicky- we have 2 Ameracaunas that I bought from GIna Neva (is she still on here) I got them when they were coming out of a molt. They gave 2 eggs and that was it. We got them in August

Other than that they don't seem too remarkable in any way. Pretty skittish and noisy, but I think they are sweet, and they are small. Ours are a light beige color.
Watching Hoarding:Buried Alive right now. Love that show- makes me not feel so bad

Had the second Christmas Program for the kids tonight- so cute.

Hi all, trouble with posting more than once a day is not much to write about.. TerriO, water proof your boots with that fat,, then do the suet thing..

had an interesting supper.. I just was finishing cooking my oatmeal supper when Annie announces that she had a steak out for supper..

she bought one of those green frying pans that are super slick.. no oil needed and no unwanted trace elements in the food.. soooo, I cut up the steak and cooked it on med high heat, just to see if it would burn or stick.. no oil of any kind.. just the meat.. It turned out perfect and nothing stuck to the pan.. Not being used to salt, I found it salty.. nobody else did, though.. for dessert, I ate my oatmeal...

if you have egg eaters, you have to be close at hand when the egg is laid to catch them.. don't bother trying to break the habit.. just break the neck...
our egg production is going up slowly but surely each week....

I have all my pols laying now..I have 5 egg layers and getting 4-5 eggs a day. My oldest hen is 5 and she still lays well (250 eggs a year)as does her great daughter, and now hopefully her great grand daughter will.

i hope

Set a few eggs for the NYD hatch. OK, so it's only 18 eggs, but considering I was getting an egg every 2 days at best, this was a big improvement this week. :D

4 OEs (F1 Blue Cuckoo Marans x Ameraucanas crossed with my IB rooster) - more for my layer pen
4 Bantam "Iowacanas" (Lavender Ameraucana Bantams x IB rooster - mystart on bantam Iowa Blues with the blue egg gene)
10 Iowa Blue eggs, 9 out of my favorite pair so really wanting these for the next generation

I set eggs today too. I really scored on some heritage RIR. They come from show stock so i am pretty excited. It is pretty dumb to be raising chicks in January in Wisconsin, but if Terri can have a chicken in her house.why can't I?

My boys love having "Baby Kevins" in the house, so until they feather out a bit, they'll be a large aquarium and spoiled. Once a little older, they'll move out to the juvenile shed with brooder lights and the good life with more space. :)

Hi All

DrH.... SO sorry to hear about your mother

Vicki... I have some of Jim's Ameraccanas too. I also have a couple from other places. I have 3 beautiful roos. What I think is nice about the roos is they are not very people aggressive. At least mine aren't. Not big on egg production... but nice to have.

GR... Glad Adam got his own truck now! Hope things go a bit better.

Delish... I got the eggs that hatched my roos from a guy in Walworth but I lost his name. I there a list of breeders? I would like a couple of hens from his stock. That's a handsome boy! I like those buff hens in the back too!

Jim.... I think your right about the "foo yung" means "left overs" LOL every recipe I've seen has different stuff in it. But allot of Asian food is like that. I have been eying up those pans for a long time now. The pan it's self seems flimsy, but if it works as good as the show, maybe I will get one.

Judge.... I think "Hoarders" makes us all feel better!

Remember Colt's daddy is an Ameraucana!

CC... Hope Ramese is ding better.

Guess that's it.... back to cleaning. then bed! Night All!

That's right! And I love him, so sweet.

good AM, just back from F&F.. had to pick up the pins that Annie came back without yesterday.. I just knew that she didn't understand what she was going for.. Oh, I saw them, but I didn't think that is what you wanted.. In my next life, my wife is going to be more mechanically inclined..

I am feeling a bit "off" this morning,, I hope it is not the flue that everybody around me has..

waiting for bro Dave to get here to help put the loader on Ollie..

It is COLD out today.. I don't look forward to working outside..

No DrH,, must have gone to see his Mom..

actually this pan is quite well built and quite heavy
