that is a cute puppy, not sure you struck me as a poodle person, although they are suppose to be the most intelligent of dog breeds!I'm missing 3 ducks. My muscovy girl, my female aussie and her male counter part. I saw them yesterday i think. but nothing all day today!
Also my pullets didnt get Bigz memo about laying through the winter without additional light. I'm lucky if I get an egg a day. That is just pure CRAP for how many birds I have. I need to get the lights on a timer. I'm not putting up with this all winter. Lazy birds...
We went and met therapy temperment puppies today. Watched them for a good 45 minutes as Halden buzzed around. I finally picked the one who seemed most consistently interested in Halden and I. So cute to see a little 4 wk old puppy follow my boy, stop by him, look up and wag his tiny tail. There are a few times when Halden slows down, and this puppy seemed very patient with him bopping all around, just waiting his turn to be noticed.
He wont be ready to go until Jan 11. But that's just fine with me. I'm glad to have had the opportunity to see how the pups interacted with Halden, and vice versa. Hate to just pick a puppy from a picture when its purpose is important.
I think my ducks are gone for good. No sign of them anywhere. :-(
I'm not a mini or toy poodle person. I've never been a poodle person in general. But the standard has a longer muzzle (i like that). I also really like the idea of none of my kids being allergic to it. You just never know since I have allergies, what will show up in the kids. I also looked specifically for therapy dogs for autism and goldens and standard poodles were ranked highest. This line of standard poodles is much more for temperment and have a much lower instinct to hunt. Helpful with chickens around. Still needs to be trained to leave it, but its doable.
I'm gonna get real good at cutting poodle hair. May be you drop by and I'll take care of that beard of yours...![]()
Our outdoor run area is 12' x 5' for each of the 3 pens. Inside we have it divided into 3 areas as well- 2 are 3.75' X 7' and 1 is 4.5' x 10' (our building is 10' x 12') We have 3 upper cages that are roughly 30 inches deep and as wide as the run they are in. This allows us to keep birds separate as needed. We try to keep birds in trios- 1 roo and 2 hens. We keep them together in these groups until we feel we hatched enough chicks for DD to chose from. Last year we separated them by the end of March. Thanks for sharing all the pics TO. I was wondering how the Buckeyes were doing. Thanks for sharing a pic of him ( I think he looks nice).... You must of really worked fast to be able to capture all those pics during halftime, eh!
Forgot to ask you H&R...what are the size of your breeding pens and what ratio of hens to roo do you use? And how long do you allow the roo to stay with the hens in the breeding pens?
