Awwww, sweet kitten, Dave! I'm glad you got her all better.
Judge, sorry to hear you're not feeling well. I hope you're better soon. I run a single heavy duty extension cord out to the critters & plug it into a power stake for Christmas lights. They should be on clearance now. And they have built in timers too, which is a nice bonus.

I wouldn't pay $8 a chick for straight run either. I did that once for my lavs & every single one was a roo!
I agree with Terri to put an ad on CL. People are always looking to rehome roos.
Jim, hope you heal up fast & don't have too much pain from your surgery.
Will we be having a visit from a "seeing-eye Annie"?
I've been waiting for Terri to post that recipe too, Bigz. Guess we'll have to wait til Chickenstock & ask the man himself, eh?
Predators. Yeah, counting your birds is always the best thing to do to prevent it from happening in the first place. Once a pred finds easy pickings, they'll be hanging around. Keep your birds locked in their coop for a few days to remind them where they should be sleeping. When the fox can't find any more easy meals, they should eventually move on. But if they have their den nearby, they will probably still come & check around the coop from time to time. As long as you make sure your birds are secure inside their coop at night, you shouldn't have any more losses unless they get really desperate. But they shouldn't if you are so close to a river, I would think.
Headed nort for the weekend. DH started getting a bad toothache during the game last night. Figured out this AM that it must be a sinus infection, since I felt like I had one coming on.
So we didn't get much accomplished today. And now I feel like going straight to bed & pulling the covers over my head. Think I'll be doing that. No comment from you, Heather! So glad the Pack spanked the Queens! Why couldn't we do it last week? Oh well, maybe they needed the wakeup call before the playoffs. Sweet dreams, all!
