Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Judge I feel your pain! Except it has been 17 years of the same kid not going to bed! I would also LOVE to drive to your house and let you know all about using your incubator and hatching, but you can find all the info you need right here on this site, just do some digging in the learning center section.

TO, you and MXM sound like you had a blast today! Sometimes I wish we were all closer together so we could all hang out more than just once a year...

I should get to sleep myself here...... I did not sleep well last night and getting up was difficult this morning.

BigFam, when should you get a call back about the job?

Sssshhhh Jim, you know you're my favorite if I'm higher on your list than CC...

since CC is not online at the moment, I guess it is safe to say that you are my favorite..

Jim!!!..... But I'm The ONE trying to find you a roo!

you know you are my favorite,, we just can't let the others know it..

I just finished my "root beer" and I have to get to bed.. I have a few things I want to do in the morning..

I let the dogs out and they didn't want to come back in.. that was a couple of hours ago.. I think the pup will be ready, now.. his wool is not half as thick as Dora's.. she will stay out for the rest of the night..

Well, had more to say but still feeling a bit "off" doing some herbal "defence" to fight it off while it's just starting! Got a lot of chasing to do to so I better have my "night cap" and get to bed too. The 2 turkeys in the separate cage got out while I was making an adjustment on the other side. The hen I can pick up no problem but that Tom is getting heavy(at least for me). I don't know how, seems like they hardly eat!

Night All!

BabyL... I just wait now. The top candidates will be notified about having a background check done. When that is complete, another 3-5 days?!, someone will make an offer. I've never wanted a background check SO much before!:D I have no idea how long this will take. I thought it went well though. The main supervisor liked me. The other person liked something's about me. (Not so sure about other parts) but at least no one seemed to find me REALLY annoying and unlike able. (I swear CC, I know what you're thinking...)

Morning all!

BF4 - hoping you get that call soon, waiting on that kind of news always feels like forever.

TO - Sounds like a great day yesterday, shopping and what not! The color of my andalusian eggs are nice and bright white. It's so hard to get a good picture of the true colors of eggs sometimes. Especially under the flourescent lights in the kitchen. Love having those few white eggs as contrast to the rest of the colors I get.

Cindlady - hope you are feeling better! My daughter just got sick last night, atleast she made it into the bucket! She's home with me today. Seems like I've got someone home atleast once a week lately!

Judge - I just set some eggs on Tuesday, when did you put yours in? We can hatch along together!

Here is a good thread to show what they should look like as you candle.

But you really don't want to be opening that incubator everyday looking at them, especially with a styrofoam one. I would wait until atleast day 10 if you are going to candle. Some what until lockdown day to check and pull any quitters out. Of course if you smell something rotten go ahead and pull that egg out right away so it won't explode and contaminate the other eggs.

This thread also has lots of info on incubating and dealing with shipped eggs, good reference.

And this is from the Incubating and Hatching forum topic index. Has links to all sorts of pages dealing with it.

Well off to Florida for a seminar, leaving the chillly temps and my chickens in the hands of my family:rolleyes: hope they survive!!!
I'm totally sure ( insert sarcasm) that the 14 year old will feed and water themin a timely manor.......sigh

Good morning all...

Judge, I think today is day 7?..yes? I forgot. If it is day 7 you can candle. The links cassie gave you are great ones. Read them all. You will need the link for the shipped eggs unless you decide to drive and pick up eggs.

BF4..glad your interview went well...hope you get your background test

TO.....chickens eating on the kitchen table?....what breed is he? He looks like he has feathered feet.

Good White Morning! 3/4" here not enough to plow.

judge I just use my hand to candle with a real bright flashlight. My advise is to set em and leave em alone until it's time for lock down. Candle them then and toss the bad ones. The more you mess with them the lower the hatch rate seems to be. I know it's hard ya gotta be strong. Dang it so many hatchin

I wanna! kjg good time to get outta Dodge! Safe trip to you! Bf4me as long as they don't go on here your back ground check should be good.

I'm not saying who's my bestest, it makes you all try harder.

TO sounds like you had fun with mxm. Can see how the rest of us rate! WCc hope that bug passes quickly! CC Jim likes to poke the bear and speaking from experience it's entertaining as H! JJ I've been called a lot of things "coot" would be a real step up. Vic carpet on a moving sidewalk? Never heard of that before. Post some pics!

Well it's that time of year where I freak out over the amount of wood left in the shed. But every year it turns out to be enough. Gives me something to do I guess. Kittens are going in for the second round of shots this morning so I gotta get chores done first. Need to run the cord for the heat lamp today. Should do that to make sure the lamp is working before road tripping.
