Good thing I checked that bulb before heading out it was bad. Man those things suck! Way too sensitive! Only took enough money for one bulb, all TSC had was a 2 pack. But got them for the price of one.

The kittens have figured out that getting in the porta puss means a trip to the vet. Was not fun getting them in there. No blood though. Silly chickens are all messed up. No figuring them out. 2-5-4 the last few days. Kinda like the weather, wait and see. Seems L's surgery has had a side bonus. Her snoring has diminished greatly!

Must have reduced the pressure on her diaphragm. Better get chores done.

good morning all,

big day ahead of me.. going parts shopping.. I don't think I will be able to find a pre-formed hose, but maybe I can find a flexible hose..

with the puppy.. rub his nose in it and whack him with a rolled up newspaper.. and when you put him out, TELL him,, "go pee" .. they understand more than you think they do.. repetition , repetition..
with dogs,, know what YOU want and then enforce it.. and stay constant..

time to clean up and head to town..

Good morning all. I have to get outside...I was out of corn last night so they didnt get as much as they should have.
BigFam--crate training is very good but I understand that you want the "bond" to be there for your son. HMMM. H is too young to have responsibility for the dog so the tether approach wont work. I would say to call the therapy dog place and see if they have ideas. While the old school method of rubbing their nose in it might make you feel better; dogs do not have negative associations with poop. In fact they seem to rather like it! Most will eat any poop they find at least a few times in their lives.
What you need to do with the pup if he is not to be in a crate when not supervised, is to take him out right after he wakes up, right after he eats and right after a play session. Put him on a leash and go outside to his area and say "poop" then dont do anything else until he does. No talking to him, no playing. When he goes he gets let of the leash for a bit of fun. Then repeat, repeat, repeat. Once you get him(and you) on a schedule it will be easy. If he doesnt go then you walk back into the house with him and keep his leash on your beltloop. You know he is going to go, so pay attention. When he is starting the sniff circle thing pick him up or walk him out and repeat. Soon he WILL get the idea. Good luck--they are smart! If you do happen to CATCH him going in the house then you can grab him and say NO! OUTSIDE! and take him out.

Sorry, I didnt mean to bore all you guys with the housetraining lecture....

Heading to Madison this afternoon for my client's funeral. Then to the pet store for parrot food! I am going to have to put that stuff in a locked cabinet! The darn beagle seems to be able to open any container I store it in!
Free ice fishing huh? I used to like to go with my Dad when I was a kid...too bad it's going to be so cold tomorrow! I dont think the middle of the lake is where I want to be...but I might go...
I dont know that I will get a fishing license again this year. I used it ONCE last year. Sheesh--

Well, guess I better get outside and feed those starving birdies. I must not have slept reall well last night cause I am still really tired.

lol...

Terri has more help in her house than I do. No cats, No chickens, one small dog who is so old she needs to be carried down steps.
The eggs are safe in the bator!

Good morning- well it is obvious I have no idea what I am doing when candling eggs. Two of them had some kind of black ball thing floating around in them, a few had a dark mass, and a few had nothing. Except when I turned them around, then some of them that had nothing, all of sudden had a dark thing in it. I don't know- I think I will just let them alone unless they start to smell bad, and hope for the best. Frustrating!
I can't remember who asked, but I set my eggs last Friday, so 8 days now.
Hope you all have a great day- going out soon to get them all some fresh straw;I hate below zero weather.

BBP, take your prolapsed hen, wash her prolapse a bit & give it a gentle push. It should go back in fairly easily. Then put her in a dark area such as a crate or cage for a day or so so you can keep an eye on her in case she prolapses again. You want her to be in the dark so her body is not stimulated to produce eggs, which will just aggravate the prolapse. Good luck.

Vicki, congrats on the Noodle egg!

Sorry Cind, but I could just see the look on your face when you came home to the newly decorated yard.

Doc, glad to hear you're sleeping more peacefully, until the furballs decide it's party time, that is.

And if you decide to incubate any eggs this year, you better ratchet-strap that thing to the table!
Terri, your client wasn't that annoying was she? I guess you wanted out of that job pretty bad, hey?

No offing the clientele now.

Judge, just leave those eggs alone til lockdown, then candle them. You will definitely be able to tell which ones are fertile & which ones aren't by then. And don't forget the daily sniff test.

I tried to push the prolapse back in, but it comes right back out. I have her isolated. But now she's in the cage that I need to use to pick up my call duck from Dennis Fuller tomorrow. So I'll have to do some rearranging around here.
